There are many things I enjoy doing and seeing whenever I am in a small town. There’s the shopping, the eating, the visiting of parks and public spaces for the kid to run around and blow off some steam. Then, there’s walking around the town, and a few blocks beyond, just to see what’s there. Sometimes, you might find a retail business or ice cream parlor or even a restaurant. Other times, it is all about the residential homes. They can be incredibly grand or simple, cute, and charming.

In Rensselaer, Indiana, my “to do” list includes gawking at these amazing homes. It’s a nice stretch of road right along the river. If you head down west Milroy Street, you will find a bunch of these. On the other side, you can see Weston Cemetery. Others are located right on the main drag through the town. Aren’t they incredible?  If these don’t make you want to explore…I don’t know what will!

There are all sorts of lovely buildings around Rensselaer. The downtown is awesome–the Jasper County Courthouse itself is incredible. Kid #1 calls it the “big sandcastle.”

Branching away from the town in every direction are some really amazing homes. Here’s just a taste of what you will find if you wander through this great Indiana town!
