Do small town stores dream of making it big? Kroger big?
When I was offered a chance to investigate Kroger’s Cart Busting Savings Event as well as a $25 gift card to give away…I was torn. Would I lose a piece of little Indiana? I did a little digging.
little Indiana $25 Gift Card Giveaway
It all began with one store: Barney Kroger used his life savings back in 1883–all $372 of it! to purchase his first grocery store. His motto? “Be particular. Never sell anything you would not want yourself.”
Interesting, don’t you think? Not so very different from a motto that small town (or not so small town) stores have to shoot for today. We all strive for variations of the same big American dream and Hoosier or not, Barney Kroger just managed to go bigger than most, like 2,500 stores big!
It kind of gives all of us a little hope, don’t you think? Do what you do and do it well. You just never know what could happen. We all have to start somewhere…even in little Indiana.
