The Stone House Restaurant and Bakery in Delphi, Indiana

We were well on our way to The Stone House Restaurant and Bakery in Delphi, Indiana. Hungry and ready to eat, we couldn’t wait until we arrived.

Why The Stone House? We wisely decided to follow the advice of every single person that we talked to that morning.

This is an awesome Carroll County building. I wish I had a better shot of the doors. They are tall and unusual. Step back in time, however, and you wouldn’t have entered The Stone House Restaurant and Bakery quite so openly–because this building was once a brothel.

I find Indiana history so interesting, especially the history of place. I wish I had more information on the origins of this building than that but, unfortunately, I do not. Do you? If so, please share what you know in the comments section below.

Anyway, back to The Stone House Restaurant and Bakery of the present. It has a really neat, long wood bar and a mirror that takes up a large chunk of the wall behind it.

Delphi, Indiana Restaurant

Things to Do in Delphi, IndianaEveryone was hungry, but the kid is the loudest about it (as usual). As you can see from the photos, my husband, Jeremy, had a hamburger and onion rings. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and a side of chips.

While waiting for our order we looked out the windows at the bustling folks in this small Indiana town. Of course, when food arrived, all scenery was forgotten. Yum. We were all very happy with what we chose. We can see why The Stone House Restaurant and Bakery is so popular. It’s an Indiana travel destination for a reason.

But we were even more happy with the goodies we bought for the road. Remember, this is The Stone House Restaurant and Bakery.  The kid got a sugar cookie and even let me try a bite. It was excellent. I do love a soft sugar cookie.

My husband had a chocolate chip cookie, and he enjoyed it, but I got the showstopper: A Rocky Road Brownie. Yes, that kind of rocky road: nuts and marshmallow thrown over a layer of thick yummy brownie. It wasn’t the kind of thing I usually pick up but “Whoa!” am I glad I did.

Everything was excellent. So good, in fact, that both my husband and the kid wanted to share my bakery treat. As if! The server said to eat it with a glass of milk nearby. She was right. It was fantastic and very rich.

Great food, great atmosphere, and even better dessert in super friendly Delphi, Indiana make The Stone House Restaurant and Bakery a must-go.
