I’m a elementary school teacher so love to have a special mug at school. One that expresses the care that a potter put into making it. I’ve been looking for such a mug so maybe this is it. The bowl would be mine alone for hot soup or ice cream. The other mug would be hubby’s. See I have it already all planned out. ROFL
    Thanks for the chance!

The bowl would get it’s first use probably to hold Halloween candy. I would probably use the mugs for morning oatmeal. For some reason I think it tastes better in a mug then in a bowl.

  19. /Francis September 11, 2010 at 1:05 pm

Gene’s slogon, Made with creativity. Use creatively. is a great slogan — love it These are beautiful. The mugs would be great for my afternoon teatime. I love curling up with a warm cup of tea and looking out in my garden for a little quiet time.

I am looking forward to sitting on my back deck this fall with my angel boyfriend, admiring all the autumn leaves as they turn red, gold and orange, and drinking a hot cup of tea from those beautiful mugs. The bowl would be perfect for holding hot scones to dunk in the tea. Mmmmm………….

  47. libby September 8, 2010 at 1:37 am

I’d use the cups for ice cream with my son. As a kid I remember eating ice cream out of a mug with my mom. I’d stir and stir it until it was silky smooth and perfectly blended with chocolate syrup. 🙂 I guess we’d let papa bear have his ice cream in the bowl. He does work hard afterall and deserves a larger serving.

Or maybe homemade marshmallows or some vanilla bean ice cream. OMG I think I just drooled on the keyboard. LOL. I’m not sure if you can bake in these, but I could always use them for sharing a cup of joe with my dad. The bowl has endless possibilities. I’m thinking some fun southwest salad. My friend and I just got an apartment together, we’re away at school living on our own for the first time, and we lack a lot of kitchen essentials. This bowl will be a nice touch to help make us feel at home!

  117. Jay September 1, 2010 at 5:37 pm

We will use it as decoration in our home.

  118. Trena September 1, 2010 at 1:30 pm

I will send the mugs to my pen pals in Finland. We’ve been friends for more than 50 years, beginning in Francesville when I was in the 6th grade. We visited them in Helsinki in ’06 and they came here in ’07; unfortunately, we now live in St. Louis and the schedule didn’t allow us to take the trip to Francesville “where it all began”. We were interviewed and had our picture taken for the Helsinki newspaper. They will love having something like this from Francesville. On the next trip, I think they would love to be part of the Francesville Fall Festival.

My husband and I collect tiles and pottery, and would use the mugs for coffee before heading into our studios, and the bowl would be perfect for CSA tomatoes!

I think these pieces are absolutely gorgeous! Thank you for introducing us to Gene Speicher. We just moved from hot Arizona to cool Pennsylvania, so I think I would love to have a bowl of colorful fall leaves on our table! And, the mugs will probably be filled with my husband’s homemade chai. Thanks so much for the chance at these beautiful mugs and bowl!

I find I have almost accidentally begun a collection of mugs. I use them and leave them all over the house. They seem to symbolize coming of age to me somehow. I would love to add a Gene Speicher mug to my collection.

I would use these mugs for my morning coffee in my new farmhouse kitchen. A cup of fresh coffee for me & an extra for a friend. The bowl is perfect to fill with fresh raspberries picked from my own little patch. The bright red berries would look so cheerful against the bowl. Email becci_lin at yahoo (dot) com.
