At the Homestead Buttery and Bakery, everything is homemade.

What a menu! How would I ever decide? In the end, I decided to go with a Reuben Sandwich. I couldn’t wait to see how the Homestead (as locals call it) would rank! My husband, Jeremy, ordered the Homestead Stack.

Our sandwiches were so delicious we couldn’t stop making yummy noises (or maybe that was just me). I don’t know what kind of bread it was but it was flavorful and not what you are expecting. You can kind of see from the photo on the left how it has little flecks of herbs in it. What a great complement to the traditional Reuben Sandwich fixings.

The lemon cream pie at the Homestead Buttery and Bakery in Remington, Indiana is a work of art. I have never had a lemon cream pie as good as this one.

My husband had a root beer float. My husband said it hit the spot but we knew we still had to have enough room in our bellies for pie. After all, Little Indiana is always very thorough in her research.

You see, Wednesday is Pie Day at the Homestead Buttery and Bakery. Who can say no to a whole big, beautiful case of fresh-baked pie? I, for one, can’t. But I’m guessing you knew that already.

I love lemon cream pie and the Homestead Buttery and Bakery’s lemon cream pie was the best one I have ever had. The crust was perfection and the filling was the ultimate compliment–a perfect balance of sweet and slightly sour.

It was so good I returned again to pick up a pie for my grandmother’s birthday. I knew she would love it (she’s a fan of lemon like I am). Who needs cake when there’s delicious, delicious lemon cream pie?

My husband ordered the chocolate cream pie and it was good, too. He devoured it pretty quickly while groaning about being full. Oh, the sacrifices we make for Little Indiana.

They also sell dry goods, home decor, and have plenty of take-home casseroles, cookies, and more in their freezer case. Anyone can bring home a piece of Remington, Indiana.

The bulk food items are fantastic. You can find just about everything you need. They have samples sitting around here or there so you don’t have to blindly make a purchase. I love that.
