Hubs and I happily (and hopefully) visited this Jasper County restaurant for breakfast.

It’s very nice inside and sparkling clean. You can tell it’s all brand new.
They’ve got a nice counter for seating besides the room we were in and a whole other room for, you guessed it: banquets!
A large cold case with salads and a few others things, as well as a case of various donuts sits on one side. She’s even got a pick-up window so folks can pre-order their breakfast or lunch selection and have it ready for when they come through. Brilliant!
I think that’s a great idea –especially in a college town and county seat like Rensselaer! But, really, I can see many people take advantage of that (and I hope they do).

Our server mentioned something about cherry cobbler fresh out of the oven and so, in the interest of little Indiana research I had to get that too (who can resist warm cherry cobbler? Not me!).

The menu was small but had enough variety to keep it interesting. I ordered a full order of Biscuits and Gravy and my husband chose Sweet Cinnamon French Toast with a side of bacon (which he promised to share).
I got my homemade cherry cobbler before my breakfast came. Warm from the oven and a very generous serving made this a very great way to start the day! So big, in fact, that I willingly shared with my husband, Jeremy.
The biscuits and gravy wasn’t super peppery like some I’ve had in the past so that made me happy! The full order was plenty big and very filling. Hubs suddenly became quiet when his food rolled out which is always a sign of pure goodness.

What has left me curious is the part of their menu that said to try their “tasty but creative cupcakes.” Now that does sound interesting! There weren’t any out when we were there (though I’m not surprised, it was the breakfast hour).
Jamie’s Cafe and Banquets in Rensselaer, Indiana was a good dining experience. For a homemade breakfast or lunch in a hurry I would especially urge you to plan ahead and jot over to Jamie’s and take advantage of her pick-up window.
