Our waitress was extremely nice and recommended a few popular items: the cheese fries (her personal favorite), the catfish, and the pork tenderloin. We placed our order and waited.
You know you are in a small Indiana town mom and pop when you see a waitress pick up a baby from his high chair to go show him off. We could hear the people comment to their waitress, “Oh, she does that every Thursday when we come in.”
Potato wedges topped high with cheese and bacon looked so good, Treece’s definitely deserves an A+ for the presentation of that one! I do wish that I had asked for ranch dressing–that would have been the perfect compliment.
We also got an order of onion sticks. Nice and crispy, the shape was a nice change of pace from regular onion ring and came with a great dipping sauce.

On to our entrees! I know you are expecting me to say that I ordered the catfish and that it was everything that everyone said it was and more, and normally I would have (especially because seafood is so hard to find in little Indiana) but–I didn’t.
I had the most horrible food poisoning of my life back in September and even though it wasn’t caused by the catfish I ate at a fish fry, that was the last thing I ate before I spent 6 very long hours extremely ill. That kind of experience stays with you. I did not have the catfish and I banned my husband, Jeremy, from ordering it too, at least until a little more time goes by.
I ordered the Fire-Grilled Coho Salmon to stick with the fishy theme. It was wonderful! Simple but delicious. My husband picked a hamburger and it looked so very good!
Even though we had a giant plate of cheese fries, we both ordered a side of sweet potato fries. Ever since our discovery at Luke’s Kitchen in Wheatfield, Indiana we’ve been on an unofficial search to find (and eat) more!
