When my husband, Jeremy, saw this big sign advertising “Paczki” outside of Clauss Bakery and Cafe in Rensselaer, Indiana, he thought it was a political poster!
All it took was a return trip to the town of Rensselaer, Indiana!
Paczki Day in Indiana
My husband had at least heard of Paczki but he had never before eaten Paczki! Is that not the saddest thing ever? I knew I had to remedy that.
After teasing him about his confusion (it’s kind of my job, right?) I had to let him taste the wonders of Paczki for himself. These rich little hunks of goodness are not what you are expecting!
They look like your basic jelly-filled doughnut but taste even better.

There are so many kinds of Paczki.
Clauss Bakery and Cafe in Rensselaer, Indiana had a few yummy choices! Paczki filled with fluff, bavarian cream, or cream cheese fillings.
There are also plenty of fruit fillings like apple, cherry, blueberry, or, my personal favorite: raspberry.
Solo, I headed in and grabbed a cherry Paczki for my husband to surprise him. While not usually a fruit filling kind of guy, I didn’t see him as being a huge fan of the fluff-filled Paczki. I chose right: he loved it!
