When little Indiana checked her email and found a request to add The Homestead Buttery and Bakery One Year Celebration to the Indiana Festivals and Events Calendar, well, I figured I should mention this fantastic mom and pop one more time.
The First Year
It’s a pretty big deal when any business can survive for a year, but in Indiana towns? It’s just awesome. The Homestead Buttery and Bakery in Remington, Indiana is pure deliciousness. Hubs and I have not only eaten there, we’ve pre-ordered pie from there when we knew we would be passing through. It’s a restaurant and bakery you won’t soon forget!
The Food
I’m particularly excited about the thought of a Troyer meat and cheese sale ($3.99 a pound for a whole or half horn). I have heard there will be food samples, new chocolates, a gift basket giveaway, and…homemade ice cream!
If the Homestead Buttery and Bakery is doing homemade ice cream, you know it will be good! I talked with Jody Bahler, co-owner, who said they are going to start with a few flavors: Vanilla, Rocky Road, Peanut Butter Passion, and Raspberry Mash. Did I mention it’s made with real cream?

Summer suddenly got a whole lot better. If you need something fun to do on Friday, May 13, 2011 or want free hot dogs, chips, and lemonade from 11-1 PM on Saturday, May 14, 2011, you should definitely head to this quaint Indiana town–and bring along a cooler for the cheese and pie! You can look for me (I’m so not missing this one, and yes, I plan on pre-ordering pie!).
