We hadn’t planned on visiting the water park section of Holiday World at all. But, during the great tour we received from Nathan, we quickly changed our minds. Splashin’ Safari looked phenomenal. We couldn’t believe that even with our toddler that we could still all find things to do and ways to keep us all entertained. What a brilliant design.

After changing, renting a reasonable locker, and stowing all of our stuff in it, we headed over to Kima Bay. Generally less crowded than Monsoon Lagoon, you can beat the crowd and enjoy more than 100 different types of water play elements. There were 125 water jets alone. It looked like the perfect place to begin.

Kid #1 jumped right in, or on, in this case. If he wasn’t zipping around on slides, he was figuring out all the different ways to get drenched.

Kid #2 wasn’t sure about the whole thing. He wanted to be held and fussed when I set him down (he was missing nap time at this point). If I had been paying closer attention, I probably should not have stood underneath the large 1200 gallon tipping bucket with him in my arms. That was a shock for both of us. It probably didn’t help him feel any more relaxed about the whole thing either.

Eventually Kid #1 let us move along to super family friendly Safari Sam’s Splashland. This was my favorite part of our day.

Only kids and their families are allowed here. You won’t find a bunch of older kids hogging the slides and scaring away the little ones. Instead, you would just find me. Kid #1 and I splashed down almost all of the slides here–several times. It was so much fun. My husband, Jeremy, and I traded off watching the baby.

As for Kid #2, he fortunately got over the whole 1200 gallons of water splashing over his head incident and loved the shallow pool. He splashed and played with the various water jets scattered around the facility. What a wonderful way for our young boys to both be occupied and entertained.
