The Leavenworth Inn Bed and Breakfast in Leavenworth, Indiana sits atop a large hill above the most amazing scenic overlook. Who knew that this small Crawford County town possessed such a startling view?

If it weren’t for the sign, it would be easy to miss this Indiana bed and breakfast. That’s what is almost happened to us, anyway! We were so busy gawking at the large drop-off at the side of the road we almost missed it. We aren’t used to seeing things like that in our part of Indiana. What a view.

This is an amazing location for a bed and breakfast. Built in the 1800’s, in the early 1900’s it was advertised as Forest Grove Farm, “The Place to Spend Your Vacation.” Back then, guests could expect spring chickens, fine air, and milk from Jersey cows. I think that’s so interesting.

Once upon a time there were even grape vineyards. A remnant from its past, the old wine cellar still remains in the basement.

Over a hundred years later, and the Leavenworth Inn is still the perfect place to relax and unwind. While Leavenworth Inn Bed and Breakfast is no longer a farm, you can still expect the “fine air.”

Four buildings with sixteen rooms make up Leavenworth Inn. The property stretches across six acres of land. Our room, the Magnolia Suite, was peaceful and homey. Don’t think that by “homey” I mean small or outdated, either. It was comfortable without being tasteless or outdated. “It was just right,” as Goldilocks would say. It is nicely decorated all around.

We had an adjoining suite to share with the kiddos–two queen beds and one shared bathroom. It’s also exactly what we needed after two very full days of exploring Indiana towns.

A small table and pair of chairs sit near a window, perfect for me to get some work done! We also had an exterior door that lead right outside. Kid #1 and I woke up early to take advantage of a few fun amenities here at The Leavenworth Inn. Having easy access to the outdoors was definitely a perk. We loved having easy access to shuffleboard. There were even a slew of bicycles available.

Things to Do in Leavenworth, Indiana

After rounding up the kids, we only had to walk out of our room and through the family room to get to where our family was seated for breakfast. Convenient and hassle-free. There is a dining room but we were situated in a more private space, I’m assuming it was based on the age of our youngest. As well-seasoned travelers, however, that isn’t an issue. We did miss the conversation. I love hearing about what other people are there for and why.

Delicious breakfast, outdoor amenities, and a serene setting makes the Leavenworth Inn Bed and Breakfast in Leavenworth, Indiana a fantastic lodging option for anyone needing a little R&R. You can easily be as active as you desire with the acres around you waiting to be explored. Did I mention there are even tennis courts? Or, just bring along a book from an Indiana author, open it up, get lost, and settle in. Now that’s peaceful.
