As time has gone by, the people of Milan have taken on a sense of entitlement that maybe isn’t good for them. There are thousands of feel-good yarns about the history of the high school game in Indiana.

Milan just maybe needs to stop feeling so self-important about it.

That aside, I’ve seen the actual game on DVD at least five times and I continually marvel at how badly the Muncie team played and the absolutely absurd decisions that were made by some of the players at key junctures of the game.

In a sentence: Muncie Central was outcoached. Silly shots, no attempt to attack the Milan stall, two dreadful turnovers in the final minute of the game … and no attempt to even get off a last-second shot even though 3 seconds remained.

Despite that, Milan was a very good basketball team, well prepared and experienced.

    And you had to ask.

Now, let me tell you a little about Kitchel.

    Later.

    John
