Jeremy, my husband, was told that the folks at West Point Steakhouse in Westpoint, Indiana know their way around a kitchen.
So, like the well-seasoned travelers we are, we packed the kids in the car, gave them a few things to do during the trip, and took off for the Tippecanoe County restaurant.

It wasn’t hard to find West Point Steakhouse. There’s only one other building in this smaller than small Indiana town. There’s a tiny little playground just down the street. That’s about it. No, that is it.
Do you ever pull up to a building and get that feeling in the pit of your stomach? You know, the one that says, “Oh, no. This place is closed!” There weren’t any cars in the front of the building. My husband walked up to the door and…it was locked. No!
Then we noticed that the bar side of things was open, and in true small town fashion, the server said we could go ahead and have a seat in the family dining section even though they don’t open that side up until the evening. We were so grateful.
Thank goodness. I was beyond starving. I had accidentally steered us in the wrong direction and added on an extra 15-20 minutes to our trip. Oops. I am not known for my sense of direction. It’s true. One day I might get that all sorted out. We’ll see. Until then, we take frequent scenic routes.

We ordered a sampler appetizer to get things started: Fried Mushrooms, Onion Rings, and Catfish Nuggets complete with lemon wedges and sauces for dipping.
For our meal, well, it ended up being an easy decision for all of us. Kid #1 and Kid #2 both wanted hamburgers.
As for my husband and I? Well, after our server mentioned that they have their own commercial smoker so hickory smoked barbecue menu items are done right here in-house, our decision became easy. I decided on the Ham Sandwich while my husband, Jeremy, chose the 10 oz. Beef Brisket.
What a difference an on-site commercial smoker makes! Our meals were incredible. That was the best Ham Sandwich I have ever have. My husband was thrilled with his order. It was piled high on crunchy toast. No wonder people order their holiday hams through West Point Steakhouse. They were so good. I could totally see serving that at Easter or Christmas.

Our appetizers were fantastic (everyone loved the catfish nuggets), the meal itself was awesome, and they make their own homemade bread pudding. You can read all about our dessert right here.
West Point Steakhouse in Westpoint, Indiana is one phenomenal restaurant and I just can’t recommend it enough.
