White Chocolate Cherry Scones Recipe

You know my great love for scones recipes by now–and I am in total love with this White Chocolate and Cherry Scones recipe. It’s such a fast and delicious way to start the day!

This may very well be my favorite scone recipe ever. It’s different and sweet and the perfect accompaniment to a cup of coffee or tea.

Our boys really enjoyed these White Chocolate Chip and Cherry Scones too. They did pick out the dried cherries but I think next time I may see what happens if I chop them up a bit. It might be the large size that threw them off!

Cherry Chip Scones from a Taste of Home clipping 2003.

Ingredients

  • 3 Cups Flour
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 2-1/2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 6 Tablespoons Cold Butter
  • 1 cup (8 ounces) Vanilla Yogurt
  • 1/4 Cup plus 2 Tablespoons Milk, Divided
  • 1-1/3 cups Dried Cherries
  • 2/3 cup White Baking Chips (I cut a bar of Almond Bark into Chunks)

Instructions

  1. Combine Flour, Sugar, Baking Powder, and Baking Soda in large bowl. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs but do not cut into teeny tiny pieces.
  2. Combine Yogurt and 1/4 Cup Milk. Stir into crumb mixture just until moistened. Do not overmix.
  3. Knead in the Dried Cherries and White Baking Chips.
  4. On a greased baking sheet, pat the dough into two 9" circles.
  5. Cut each circle into eight wedges and separate wedges.
  6. Brush with the remaining Milk.
  7. Bake at 400° for 20-25 minutes or until lightly golden brown.
  8. Serve warm.

Notes

These are our new favorite thing! Even the kids enjoyed these--although they picked out the Dried Cherries. ;)
