Best Scones Recipes: Chocolate Chip Scones

With so many great scone recipes begging to be baked, it was hard to figure out where to begin! Since I made this recipe for Chocolate Chip Scones, I have been asked by both kids repeatedly to make them again. I guess you could say these soft and sweet scones were a hit! Besides, it is really hard to be grumpy and sour when Monday morning begins with these beauties. If you want your icing to pool a little and drizzle nicely, remember to wait a little bit for the scones to cool. Otherwise, the powdered sugar will melt on to the scones instead of hardening on to them.

By this point, my husband, Jeremy, and the kids are pro scone taste testers. Now that would be a great official job and career, don’t you think? Where can I sign up for that? So far, this Chocolate Chip Scones recipe ranks up high on everyone’s list of favorite scones! If you haven’t yet delved into the world of scone baking, I highly recommend it! A few times a week the family can expect a batch of homemade, warm from the oven scones. They are so much fun to make! As you may have noticed, I made a few substitutions. Lacking half and half I opted for whole milk. I also used one cup of chocolate chips. Adding a touch of vanilla extract to the glaze give it a little extra something. Think of scones recipes like this as your base. It’s okay to make minor adjustments here and there. It won’t hurt the final product.

I found this recipe on the King Arthur Flour website. They say to think about adding dried fruits or nuts in place of the chocolate chips used here. Who’s with me? I have since made this chocolate chip scones recipe without the icing. It is wonderful either way!
