For the past ten years, folks look forward to the annual Wabash Cannonball Chili Cook-Off for Charity in Wabash, Indiana. Touted as “the biggest chili cook-off East of the Missisisippi,” it is always so much fun!

You pay a small fee to get in, then you visit booth after hilariously decorated booth tasting chili. The booths are hilarious. Some people go all out. They have costumes, a themed booth, and maybe even a skit they perform every now and again. Others dress up and sing or threaten folks with a walk down the plank or bribe you with candy or beaded necklaces. They want your tickets! After all, the winners win the people’s choice award. It’s really a big deal!

Good chili, bad chili, hot chili, mild chili, white chili, red chili…you get the idea! At this point there is space for 120 booths at the Wabash, Indiana Paradise Spring Historical Park. It is the largest chili cook-off east of the Mississippi River. And, lo and behold, here it is in a small Indiana town. I just love when that happens. I have a few more photos from the Chili Cook-Off that I will post on Flickr, too. Wabash County folks are sure to see someone that they know!
