I’ll admit it right now: I had no idea how to actually get inside Katie’s Antiques! I felt a little silly but there you go. I figured I should help you avoid the same embarrassment!
It’s located right next to the popular Poplano’s Restaurant. As it turns out, they are fenced in together. Katie’s Antiques once owned Poblano’s Restaurant and served ice cream there.
So, you’ll have to walk through the gate that’s between these two businesses and up to the side door of Katie’s Antiques. You’ll see it as you make your way around. Admire the neat things along the way!
When you walk in, you will not believe this Chesterton, Indiana antique shop! It is so full of things I don’t even know where to begin.

For starters, the aisles are narrow. Very narrow. Bookshelves stretch to the ceiling and there are items all over the place. The most unusual thing I noticed at Katie’s Antiques? Loads of vintage clocks!
Mantle clocks in every shape and size and color. Even a large grandfather clock! Cherubs or flowers, Roman warriors or girls in long dresses, they are amazing.
It makes me want to put clocks all over my own home. You should have heard the chimes and gongs sounding at 5:00. How neat! It certainly makes it hard to ignore closing time.
Kidding aside, visitors to this Porter County antique shop will also see porcelain and ivory and old books! But there’s even more–just step outside and around to the back. There’s a carriage house just waiting to be explored.
Go There
It doesn’t get much better than this! Katie’s Antiques is a Chesterton, Indiana staple for a reason. There’s a lot of neat things through which to browse.
Bonus: there’s an appraiser on site so if you need to find the value of your own precious antiques, you know where to head!
