Really, we had no choice but to step inside. One whiff of this Indiana bakery and I didn’t know where to look first.
A case of cookies and pastries commands attention. Gorgeous decorated cakes take up space in another case–these are not cakes that are purchased frozen either. Again–it’s all homemade. Everything is always made fresh so you know it’s going to be good.
But here at Bowman Bakery, they are known for cheesecake! With almost 65 varieties of creamy smooth cheesecake behind them, you’ve got options. Butterfinger Cheesecake, White Chocolate Raspberry Swirl Cheesecake, Red Velvet Cheesecake are a few flavors that sound fantastic to me. Sugar free and gluten free cheesecakes are all but a small sampling of what you may find during your visit to Bowman Bakery.
The cheesecakes sit in cases against the side wall. You will see whole cheesecakes and even slices. They try to offer three to six different kinds of sliced cheesecakes each day so you can buy by the slice or by the pie.
Call ahead to find out the availability or to place your special order. The cheesecake variety changes weekly–and sometimes even daily. How ever were we going to decide?

My husband, Jeremy, claimed dibs on the single slice left of the Turtle Cheesecake. Mmm…creamy, caramel goodness. It was a delicious introduction to Bowman Bakery.
The boys were thrilled over their chocolate chip cookies. I was allowed a tiny taste. They sure were yummy. The chocolate chip cookies are also a freebie item if you are doing this as part of the Chocolate Trail. Now that’s a fun bonus. Indiana travel is always best when combined with homemade food. It’s true.
As for me, well, I have a super hero weakness. Okay, besides ice cream and pizza. Even with the choice of cheesecake, I had to get a cream horn. It was flaky and perfect. I made such a mess while eating it but I didn’t even care. It was just that good.
Cheesecakes and Cookies and Cakes
You can’t go wrong with this one. Outdoor seating (weather permitting), is the icing on the cake.
It’s not every day you find cheesecake in an Indiana town bakery, let alone a place that specializes in them! With so many varieties, there are plenty of delicious reasons to return.
