Katie’s Antiques in Chesterton, Indiana takes up an entire floor of this home turned antique shop. The aisles can be tight because every spare square inch of space was filled with something to see. Bookshelves are towering with vintage books, of course, but also whatever do-dads and vintage trinkets can fit on the same shelf. Paintings cover the walls. Pewter and teacups and books and furniture are in great supply–so, too, is the largest assortment of intricate clocks I have ever seen!
As neat as it is to browse this massive antique shop, the home isn’t the only place to browse here. Antiques have also overflowed into the carriage house and makeshift shed! During the time of my visit, it appeared that some of these spaces were used as sale spaces. Whether that remains true all the time, I don’t know, but bargain shoppers might want to double-check. It was clearly labeled with a sign at the time. There is so much crammed into this Chesterton, Indiana shop it is almost overwhelming. You might want to pace yourself a bit! As with any well-stocked Indiana antique shop, if you are really on the hunt for something specific, you may want to make it a point to speak directly with the person there. They know what they have on-hand and, if they don’t know exactly where it is, they can usually point you in the correct general direction.
The owner is also an appraiser so you are in doubly good hands. If you enjoy browsing through Indiana antique shops, and there are a few in the area, you will want to add Katie’s Antiques to your “must see” list! It’s phenomenal.
