Peru, Indiana has a new addition to their lengthy downtown: Day and Night restaurant. With space for live music, a full bar, and a nice menu, it’s a rather hip new hang-out that opened their doors in July of 2012.

From the looks and sound of it, Day and Night is trying to become the local place to go for evening fun.

They have a variety of live music acts, like acoustic guitar and live piano. It’s a nice alternative for folks in and around Miami County, I would imagine.

Fresh brewed coffee invites you to stick around–and the tasty menu makes it easy. Looking over the menu, well, we had a bit of trouble deciding. A side of Sweet Potato Fries were a no-brainer at least. But as to my main course…did I want the Reuben Sandwich or the Club Wrap?

I thought for sure that my husband, Jeremy, would get the pork tenderloin sandwich–but he went for the Santa Barbara chicken sandwich: a grilled chicken sandwich topped with avocado, mozzarella, red peppers, and bacon.

In the end, I had to go with the blackened Caesar wrap, a combination of blackened chicken, Asiago, and Parmesan cheese all wrapped up with lettuce, tomato, and Caesar dressing. Mmm. Our boys had a grilled cheese sandwich (Kid #2)  and hamburger sliders (Kid #1, of course–that kid loves a good burger). We had a friend with us this time who tried the California-style fish tacos. That was a nice looking plate. They have a selection of artisan breads, as well as other baked goods like cinnamon rolls, pretzel rolls, and cheese rolls.

Are you ready to learn about other specials that have appeared on the menu? How do Oysters Rockefeller, Italian Parmesan-crusted roast pork loin with cranberry balsamic sauce, shrimp scampi, bourbon glazed sirloin, lemon pepper crusted white fish, or tenderloin tips with a wild mushroom whiskey sauce sound? Pair it with your favorite drink. Don’t forget that Day and Night restaurant also features a full bar well-stocked with all of your favorites.

Things to Do in Peru, Indiana

As a new business, there are a few growing pains, but that’s to be expected. No big deal, but it’s something to remember and be prepared for (and to be patient about) as they figure things out and learn their way around the kitchen. But other than that? We had a nice experience.

Day and Night in Peru, Indiana had great food, a nice atmosphere, and I loved that they host live events (and karaoke). They are poised to be THE unique downtown dining and entertainment option all rolled into one. Add it to your Indiana travel itinerary.
