little Indiana on PBS in Delphi, Indiana

Delphi, Indiana will always hold a special place in my heart. It was the first town we visited as a destination after Little Indiana had gone live. At the time, I had only based the success of this website on a couple of trial runs I took to other towns. I didn’t have too much to show for those trips, either. It was the last time my film Canon camera had worked–and I lost most of the rolls of film. I’m still not sure how that happened, other than we just hadn’t had much experience packing up and heading out at that time. They may have been left behind somewhere.

Our visit to Delphi was also when I first experienced that “wow” moment. How come no one knew about all this cool stuff? It was such a fabulous mix of attractions and restaurants. Here I had lived not so far away from this town growing up–and it was only now that I found out about all that there was to see and do. Now you can consider yourself a part of the “in” crowd. A town like this definitely needs to be shared.

I can’t wait until you can make an in-person trip to see the sights. Please, do tell me about your Delphi adventures in the comments section below. Everyone would like to see what they can expect–and you don’t need to limit it to attractions or places to eat, either. I love to read your “growing up” in Delphi stories.

Things to Do in Delphi, Indiana

This Carroll County town is steeped in history: James Whitcomb Riley, the canal, the Opera House, and so much more–but they’ve got plenty of things located in the here and now. There’s so much to do in this one small town that it makes a fantastic day trip though, honestly, you probably won’t fit it all in. With so many great restaurants to choose among as well, you really need to pace yourself.

You can watch me in Delphi, Indiana right here (below), on the PBS website, or on YouTube. There’s always more where that came from! With a little luck, I will be able to snag a sponsor which would mean a full length “in the field” show for you! You see, there’s a whole lot of things that I can’t show you in these small towns because there just isn’t enough time. A sponsor and “in the field” show would enable me to really let you see it all from the comfort of your own home.

Watch and share the video (and my plea for a sponsor) with your friends, acquaintances, and rich aunts or uncles. It would be incredible to share a full-length version of these awesome Hoosier towns.
