Little Indiana Call for City Writers
Have blog, will travel? Little Indiana is looking for writers for a new project featuring (drum-roll please) mom and pops and things to do in Indiana cities.
I’m looking for folks who already live in an Indiana city with populations of 15,001 and higher. It will be your chance to explore and share the place where you live, to see it with new eyes.
For those of you with blogs that fit a specific niche, it might be a way for you to branch out and take a different direction with your writing. It can help you build your portfolio and explore a different voice.
Or maybe it will help push you to prevent winter hibernation this time around. I know I am not the only Hoosier who wants to sit in front of a heater, under a blanket, and wait for winter to pass.
Little Indiana Call for Writers
What am I looking for? I want writers who love to write. You don’t need a background in travel. You don’t need a fancy degree (or any degree, for that matter), and you definitely don’t need a huge portfolio of clips. You only need passion. That’s the one thing that will make or break a writer.
If you have been wanting to push yourself. If you have been wanting to do something different. If you feel like you could use a kick-in-the-pants to jump-start a new passion for writing, this could be the opportunity you are looking for.
My questions below are simple. I would like to see some sort of writing sample. It’s important to know how you feel about cameras and photography. If you aren’t comfortable with them, that’s fine. I just need an honest answer. We can work around it.
Think about what you enjoy about writing. Is it the idea of writing? Or, do you enjoy interviews, like talking to small business owners to see how they got their start, to learn the story behind their business, and maybe uncover a few secrets along the way?
Do you like eating at new or long-term restaurants, trying new things, and finding out the bestsellers? Do you always save room for dessert?
Or, do you prefer the events and festivals in the spaces and places around you? Are you always part of the crowd that seems to know what’s going on, where it’s at, and who will be there?
