Shoup House Antiques and Interiors in Battleground, Indiana
We weren’t exactly planning on stopping in Battle Ground–we had a different location on our list. But Kid #2 asked for me to pull over because he wasn’t feeling well. While I hate that he still gets carsick, I am happy that it happened when it did, because that is when I noticed Shoup House Antiques and Interiors.
One glance at the balcony and really nice Greek Revival and Italianate architecture and I couldn’t get the boys in there fast enough. Even they thought it looked like it might be interesting.
Located inside a fantastic 1850 built home, everything about our visit here was a total and complete joy. Like in every small Hoosier town, we refer to places by the names of the people who lived there before we did or who built the home. The shop is named for the original owners, Emmanual and Mary Shoup.
Indiana Antique Shop
Just WOW! Everything inside this Indiana antique shop is appealingly arranged. There’s a room of nautical themed items. There’s a room of garden themed items. You’ll find kitchen stuff and linens and books too. It’s so much fun and, for the non-decorating types, it serves as a healthy dose of inspiration.
For those really needing some help, the owner, Michele Fields, even offers design consultations. Based on the arranging she has done throughout her shop, I should have guessed that she does interior design. She certainly has the knack for it.
Our boys giggled over a crab made out of silverware. They loved looking through the nautical items. Boats, paintings, shells, maps–it fascinated them. A couple of shelves with various vintage dog things cracked them up as well. Those old-fashioned dog designs were funny.
My preferences leaned toward the vintage kitchen stuff. Fabulous. Linens, vintage cake carrying dishes, art, dishware…it was all in great shape. I should bring my mother here. She would love this shop. Oh–and the furniture. I wanted one of everything I saw inside this Tippecanoe County antique shop.
