Vino Villa in Greenwood: Wine, Dine, and Cheese Shop

Vino Villa in Greenwood, Indiana may not be your typical restaurant but it may be destined to become your favorite local hangout. They have wine on the brain at this Johnson County wine and cheese shop/cafe–and certainly know their stuff.

Set inside a house turned wine and gourmet cheese shop, this is a beautiful, beautiful place. Vino Villa provided the perfect setting with which to connect with old friends. Bonus: Vino Villa was easy to find and just off old downtown Greenwood.

The first floor is devoted to the shop part of things. We headed to the second floor, the bistro area that occupies a couple of rooms complete with super comfortable sofas and cushy chairs.

Although we indulged in wine that evening, Indiana craft beer drinkers will be glad to know that Sun King, Oaken Barrel, and Upland beers are also on the menu! Don’t worry–I was walking.

I ordered the Antipasti Plate and, even though I hadn’t seen my pals for ten years, they already knew that I wasn’t sharing. I guess some things never change. Yes, I mostly polished this one off. Wow, was it great. I love, love, love that bread. I could make a meal of that bread alone.

Deciding what to order wasn’t easy. At this  bistro there are also a selection of pizzas, salads, and small plate specialties. These include things like Smoked Duck Breast with Figs, Goat Cheese and Honey, Baked Brie with Maple Walnut Crostini and Fresh Pear, Meatballs A La Vino, and Muffuletta Sliders to name a few. The menu isn’t too big nor too small.

In other words? Perfection! My only regret is that I didn’t save room for dessert. The dessert list sounds incredible. There are items like Cheesecake with Cabernet and Berry Compote, Spumoni with a dark chocolate shell, and Picnic Chocolate Cake.
