Ladies Night with Goose Island Beer and Painting in Greenwood, Indiana

Beer, painting and girlfriends gabbing. Is there anything better?

Last Thursday night, Fireside Brewhouse in Greenwood, Indiana hosted Ladies Night Out with Goose Island Beer and Wine & Canvas, and I experienced just that.

Goose Island Beer Company is in the midst of launching their products to more consumers around the country, including beer lovers across Indiana. Goose Island Migration Week brought Goose Island beer, more specifically, Sophie, to Greenwood, Indiana.

Sofie is a Belgian Style Ale aged in wine barrels with citrus peels, giving it a light, refreshing taste. As the ladies trickled into the party room at Fireside Brewhouse, Sofie beer was served up, along with appetizers and other varieties of Goose Island Beer.

The main event of the night, besides the beer, was a painting class led by Indianapolis’ own Wine & Canvas studio.

The Painting Process

Emily Roark, and her sister Hilary Keck, preparing to paint their canvases at Ladies Night with Goose Island Beer.

As we finished up our appetizers and prepared ourselves to paint, we were given a brief overview of the brushes we’d be using and how to properly apply the paint to the canvas. Once the instructor began painting, we simply followed his directions, one step at a time.

No previous painting experience is necessary, which is great for people (like me) who haven’t painted since middle school. My sister, on the other hand, paints regularly.

Even though everyone paints the same thing during the class, those with more experience, like my sister, can easily add their own flair by changing up paint colors or shading a little differently.

The entire class takes about 3 hours, with a short break halfway through. Drinks are provided throughout, which gave us plenty of time to sample as many Goose Island beers as we wanted. I was partial to the 312 Urban Wheat Ale.

Wine & Canvas offers classes multiple times per week in Indianapolis. Check out the  Wine and Canvas schedule to see what appeals to you. I’m already itching to take a class again!

Although each class contains cocktails, the bar is not always centered on Goose Island Beer.Luckily, you can use Goose Island’s Beer Finder to find a location near you. Try the Sofie, or the 312!
