The Beehive in Danville, Indiana Peanut Butter Chocolate Bar. Owner Besty uses natural ingredients in her finger-licking fantastic foods.

Open shelving holds a wealth of organic products. There are even refrigerated items like cheeses and milk. You won’t believe the number of tasty options.

We saw local beef, eggs, and even bacon. Oh, bacon! If you have never had bacon from a local farm–you have been missing out, my friend. She has local honey here too. It’s something she carries year round.

Up at the counter is where owner Betsy really shines. Her recipes are made using natural ingredients. They are tasty and oh so pretty! Handpies and soups and all sorts of great bars make an appearance here.

Betsy probably isn’t what you are imagining–she’s a young business owner. She’s also savvy and smart. After she realized the direct benefits of using all-natural honey in baked goods in place of sugar as often as she could, she knew it would make a wonderful cafe and market in downtown Danville. It has.

Locals love her Casserole Club. They offer take and bake casseroles. Place your order by Monday at 4 PM for pick-up on Tuesday from 3 PM – 9 PM. They post the following week’s choices each Friday. You might find Shepherd’s Pie, Chicken and Wild Rice, Lasagna, or maybe Chicken and Noodle. You just never know what the choices will be, but you know it’ll be good.

She’s drawn on her past experience as a barista, a cafe manager, and a baker to develop something truly sensational, original, and one-of-a-kind. In all of my Indiana travels, I have yet to find anything that’s quite like this! The Beehive Market truly stands apart.

Part market, part coffee shop, and really, even part Indiana ice cream parlor (using frozen yogurt), this amazing small business fits many needs. My husband was a big fan of his coffee drink. It’s not every cafe or diner that uses their own homemade syrups for your coffee. That is a fun touch and certainly memorable.
