We can’t let summer go by without one more ice cream shop! This time it’s Jerry’s Dairy Freezer in Parker City, Indiana.

Ice cream is one of my favorite things–and here at Jerry’s Dairy Freezer, I had the chance to try a flavor even I haven’t seen in ages!

Butter pecan malt, black raspberry sundaes, crunch cones–they’ve got a nice list of treats, especially when it comes to the list of ice cream flavors. Hand-dipped flavors change but during our visit, we had our choice of Amaretto Cherry, Strawberry, Butter Pecan, and Strawberry–to name a short sample.

I hadn’t heard of two of them: Blueberry Cream ice cream and Amaretto Cherry. What choice did I have? I got a small sample of both. How else could I decide?

My husband, Jeremy, sampled the Amaretto Cherry and ordered it (though I must say I really love cherry ice cream) and I went with the Blueberry Cream ice cream, a flavor I hadn’t seen anywhere since the Blueberry Festival I attended in the days before Little Indiana went “live” more than four years ago. It had been awhile. I’ve heard the lemon custard and the orange-pineapple are also amazing.

Oh, that was great! My husband thought my Blueberry Cream ice cream cone looked so great that he wanted to try it! He agreed that it was awesome.

The portions at this Indiana ice cream parlor are definitely generous, too, which I really like. No one wants a skimpy, wimpy ice cream cone. Our boys both went with Superman ice cream. They were very pleased with their choice and so happy to participate in this bit of “research” for me while touring around Randolph County.

Of course, they have more than ice cream on the menu at Jerry’s Dairy Freezer. There’s nachos, breadsticks, pretzel sticks, hot dogs, pizza burgers, barbecue sandwiches, Coney dogs–locals have a lot of favorites.

Another great Indiana ice cream parlor! You just have to love those mom and pop ice cream shops!

What’s especially fun are the special events that Jerry’s cooks up during the summer. Look for the week when they do car hop service. It’s something that customers and employees really look forward to.

This is a seasonal business–but they won’t close for the season until they sell out! Traditionally, the last day is October 5. They open in March. Call before you head out (as always). Located across the ball field, I’m sure that helps make Jerry’s Dairy Freezer THE local hangout.
