For a town that’s so big on Christmas, Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana certainly does Halloween up right.

Think more “friendly” than “frightening” and you’ve got a better understanding of how this southern Indiana attraction mixes things up each Fall.

You won’t find scary Halloween costumes or tear-inducing decor. Instead, this Spencer County attraction keeps it all family friendly with a big focus on fun! There’s nothing tear-inducing here. Instead, you should expect plenty of smiles.

Familiar icons at the park are draped in sheets for a “ghostly” look. It’s really cute! Pumpkins are here, there, and everywhere. Smiling scarecrows line many a walkway. The usual places to eat have an occasional name change to reflect a spookier side like Udderly Boo Ice Cream and Fright Cake Factory. Clever, eh? I love the way they’ve gotten fun and creative with it.

Open on the weekends during the month of October, the Holiday World side of the park is open later on Saturdays. The bright lights of the rides really light up the park! It’s like a whole new experience for anyone who has only visited the park in the daytime. It’s so festive and exciting.

For Splashing Safari and all of the water park fun? Well, you are going to have to wait until next season. It’s always so hard to let summer go–but at least Holiday World can entertain us for a little longer in the meantime.

It might be the same Indiana town, but this is not the same Holiday World. More than just fun, kid-friendly decor, Happy Halloween Weekends at Holiday World mean great new seasonal attractions!

There’s Mummy’s Treasure Maze, two Corn Mazes, a 3D Holidog Halloween Adventure, Hayrides, and Graveyard Smash–a more Halloween-themed show featuring songs you know and love. It’s from a variety of years, so moms and dads may recognize and sing along with a few that the kids don’t know. That’s always fun! You can get a glimpse of the Graveyard Smash show in the video below.

Our oldest loved walking through Mummy’s Treasure Maze! He liked trying to figure out the clues to solve the puzzle. It’s as close to finding real treasure he will probably ever get. We had to admire his relentlessness. I have to admit that enjoyed this nice attraction too.

A Not-So-Spooky Good Time

Kid #1 was just big enough (and brave enough) to tackle two of the three Holiday World rollercoasters–and that included The Voyage! So brave! At least, he was brave if screaming your head off the entire time and stating how much you didn’t want to go on something but then doing it anyway is brave…oh, I’m only kidding. He loved it–and my husband, Jeremy, loved being able to go on the thrill rides. It’s been a long time.

Heck, I loved that I didn’t have to go on the thrill rides! Instead, the youngest and I were able to bum around together, finding great things for us to do while in the area of whatever roller coaster the other two had decided on.

Kid #2 had a lot of great rides to enjoy for his age. He even chose a couple of rides that were a little faster moving than what I would have liked! We went on several rides multiple times. He loves that turkey shoot ride. It came in handy during the downpour, that’s for sure.
