If you love wandering through a bookstore, O’Gara and Wilson Antiquarian Booksellers in Chesterton, Indiana should be on your list! The brick exterior so fits with the whole bookstore vibe. It is absolutely charming. But then again, it certainly should be! This is a business that has been around since 1882! With longevity like that, you tend to learn a few things or two, such as how to make an amazing space that people want to visit, and what sort of books to stock inside of it.
This beautiful downtown Chesterton shop carries a staggering selection of unique and lovely used books. It is very hard to resist. So why even bother resisting at all? Wander the wonderfully organized aisles to find neatly categorized shelves. Education and words, drama and theater, homeschool, fiction and literature–they have got it all. There is also a lovely rare books section. Head to the back of the shop to make use of the nice desk.
Those vintage books have such a nice feel, don’t they? The colors, the comforting old book smells, the charming illustrations…good thing there are comfy chairs scattered here and there in the Porter County bookstore just perfect to curl up for a minute (or two or three) and enjoy.
