I can’t play a single instrument. Wait, that’s not true. Do handbells count?

I’ve already shared that I can’t draw either so thank goodness for this whole writing thing! However, even my lack of musical skill didn’t prevent me from thoroughly enjoying Crawdaddy Music in downtown Madison, Indiana!

The storefront of Crawdaddy Music is so neat! We were only able to press our faces against the glass, yearning for admission into this sprawling shop. We had been waiting for a year to get in to this one!

Seasonally open (so please call ahead), we missed him during our first go around at this Jefferson County shop. When I saw he was open during our last visit, the four of us practically ran inside!

Though I may have the gift of having a song for every occasion (let me tell you how much the family loves when we cross over the Wabash River), fortunately for our children, they seem to have inherited my husband’s more useful musical ability.

Crawdaddy Music was worth the wait! What an incredible, humongous shop! It’s one of those music stores that you just know has either been around for awhile or the owner has been deeply involved in music for a long time before deciding to open a shop because of all the different STUFF!

The diverse selection of musical instruments is almost mind boggling. Please don’t laugh when I say that there were some items that I didn’t even know what they were!

Owner Bob Houze easily filled us in. Crawdaddy Music has been in business since 1987. That’s a lot of years in the music business or, really, any business.

Sure, he sells musical instruments of all kinds (it wouldn’t be much of an Indiana music store if he didn’t!) from violins to guitars to cellos to drums, banjos, and even bongos! In fact, he does carry rare items, too so any music lover will find something here to inspire.

Racks of sheet music, instrument cases, and accessories are in abundance. New, vintage, used–there’s something to fit every budget. If he doesn’t have what you need, he can get it!

An instrument won’t do anyone much good if it sits and collects dust in a corner somewhere. Protect that investment! There’s plenty of instrument covers available. Or, take music lessons to learn how to finally play the piano, woodwinds, stringed instruments, mandolin, banjo, drums, percussion, bass, brass, violin, or guitar.

Yes, his music lesson list spans a pretty huge range! I didn’t even include lessons on theory or arranging, so there’s that, too, for all of those with a composer’s bent.

Do you see my point yet? Crawdaddy Music has absolutely everything anyone would need to get started learning to play an instrument or brushing up on old skills.

This is not those big box music shops. Crawdaddy Music in Madison, Indiana has heart, it has soul, and it has loads of rhythm. Absolutely visit this shop–and make sure to call ahead before making a special trip!

People pick up instruments and play, testing them out for sound and fit. I’ve been told that there are even live music events here though I didn’t catch any. It’s a true music store that attracts folks from near and far.
