Taking a cue from larger area festivals, Little Cousin Jasper Festival in Rensselaer, Indiana has a few BIG events in store this year!
Named for James Whitcomb Riley’s poem that mentions the greatness of the town, it is a wonderful family-friendly event.
Little Cousin Jasper Festival in Rensselaer, Indiana
Booths of all kinds surround the Jasper County Courthouse Square. Movie Madness from DeMotte, Indiana is there (so expect games and videos for sale), as well as clothing booths, jewelry booths, toy booths, photo booths, and, my favorite: food booths!
Those are located along another side of the square. Several local businesses, like one of my favorites, Martin’s Restaurant, also of Rensselaer, is represented.
Although there are no rides, there is a bounce house, a bounce tunnel, and a few skill games like a dunk tank and fishing game. Fortunately, the bounce houses are very reasonably priced!

Little Cousin Jasper Festival in Rensselaer, Indiana: Movie Madness from DeMotte has a booth
The Iroquois Valley Harmonizers, an excellent group, are to perform at 11:00 CST. The zipline will then begin at noon and continue until 8 PM CST on Saturday, September 6, then return the next day, Sunday, from noon to 2 PM.
Look for the Good Time Cloggers at 2 PM, the local talent show at 3 PM (sometimes, the talent will really surprise you!), and the Eagles fish fry plus kids tractor pull at 4 PM.
As if that weren’t enough for Saturday, a local, Xzavier Fontaine will open for Jason Coleman and Megan Taylor with special guest Ben Hall from Nashville, Tennessee. With free open seating for attendees, everyone can easily enjoy a little bit of entertainment!

Back again, Amanda Overmyer of American Idol fame, returns to Rensselaer to perform again at the main stage. She has quite the voice! Make sure to catch her at 1 PM on Sunday, September 7!
