Using natural, local ingredients whenever possible, this is your go to option for amazing food.

You can’t miss the frozen yogurt fixtures attached to the wall. Help yourself–you pay for the weight!

Yummy add your own extras like M&M’s, chocolate chips, peanut butter cups, sprinkles, graham crackers, and plenty more are available to jazz up your bowl of frozen yogurt.

Kid #1 and I decided to share a bowl. We used a combination of Tangy Vanilla and Chocolate. That was really fun. I wished that I had made my own by the time we got done with it!

It began with bees. Learning about beekeeping from her family, owner Betsy Bassett discovered the health benefits of natural sweeteners. Betsy takes great pride in using these natural sweeteners in her homemade products. You’ll even find bottles of Indiana honey for sale in The Beehive.

You’ll find a glass case of assorted homemade desserts, changing soups, hand pies, salads, and a slew of beverages. There’s even Gluten Free items.

The Nutella Latte is said to be a customer favorite–and my husband stated that he could see why. It was very, very good. We’ve heard that the syrups are all homemade as well!

Poke around and notice the shelves of fresh fruit and vegetables, the refrigerated cases stocked with artisan cheese and eggs, real butter, and meats, plus crackers and other shelf staples. Folks can stay right there in this Indiana town

Owner Betsy Bassett should be a role model for youngsters in Hendricks County–and beyond. This young entrepreneur has finally realized her dream of opening a health conscious local hangout–and it couldn’t be more tasty!

That’s how Junk in the Trunk in downtown Danville got its start.

They took their individual loves for certain vintage or reproduction items and put them together to make one really great Indiana antique shop!

I’m sure you know what that means: the selection will always be changing! With lovely exposed brick walls and great organization, it’s a classier version of your typical sell-it-again shop.

Janes on the Square in Danville, Indiana

Jane’s on the Square is certainly a bright spot in downtown Danville, Indiana.

This is a lovely resale store of name brands that you know–but with a  mighty nice  gently used price tag!

Inside this Indiana town shop, women and juniors will find a lot to nab their attention.

Racks and racks of tops and skirts and jackets and even formal wear line the walls and fill the floor.

Vintage lovers aren’t left out either. You can find an assortment here at Jane’s on the Square on a rack near the back of this tidy shop!

But you will find plenty more than great frocks and cute tops! This Hendricks County boutique also carries accessories.

Watches, necklaces, earrings, rings–it’s all here! In fact, there’s even flirty purses and handbags to suit any style.

Did I forget to mention shoes?!? That’s so not like me! But yes, there are even shoes.

Jane’s on the Square is just a beautiful shop all around. From the warm wood flooring to the tin ceiling, you can’t NOT like this shop!

Diggity Dog in Danville, Indiana

If you are looking for a different lunch option, Danville, Indiana now holds Diggity Dog, a hot dog diner!

Folks in this Indiana town have their choice of unique hot dogs on the menu.

It’s always thrilling when a new place to eat opens up in a small town–and the May arrival of Diggity is no exception!

Easy on the wallet and with loads of options, it’s easy to see why so many folks streamed into this Hendricks County lunch spot during our stay.

As to the menu…hubs went Greek: My Big Fat Greek hot dog. Tomatoes, Mozzarella cheese, black olives, and bleu cheese dressing. It was loaded!

Mine was no different. I had to get the Reuben Dog (who can resist a twist on the Reuben sandwich?). As someone who never, ever, ever drinks soda, I was super happy to see a hand-dipped chocolate malt on the menu. It was excellent.

Our boys were thrilled. Kid #2 is a huge fan of hot dogs and Kid #1 wanted nachos.

We thought it was pretty cute that the kids meal comes with a plain or cheese hot dog, a side of nachos, and a drink. They were both beyond pleased!

This small town hot dog diner also has a neat story: from the time the two co-owners had the idea until they opened was only two months! Isn’t that something?

Feel like something different and low-key in Danville? Then you will want to try Diggity–especially if there are kids in your group!

I’ve never known a kid to turn down a hot dog and with the grown-up options on the menu, well, I don’t think any adults will complain either.

So, I admit, that the (fast) approaching holiday season has me thinking gifts, this Danville, Indiana shop is more than a once a year kind of shop! Think birthdays, employees, employers, special celebrations, and the like.

Locals know that this Indiana Apple Orchard is where to go for fresh fruits and vegetables as well as gourmet items. I even saw a few made in Indiana products in there. Don’t forget to try a bit of their own seasonal cider. Yum!

This Danville, Indiana family venture also holds events throughout the season. Mark your calendars now for their big December event that features the big himself! With a large antique sleigh inside the barn, it’s a beautiful photo opp.

There’s a lot of interesting items crammed into Carla’s Creations and Gifts in Danville, Indiana.

As part of the lively downtown square, I can’t imagine a more convenient location to snag a couple of last minute gifts!

Shiny, colorful packaging. That’s the first thing you will notice. Right in the middle of the shop is a very large assortment of candy–and nostalgia candy.

Pop Rocks, Lemonheads, Boston Baked Beans, Candy Sticks, and Sugar Daddy have a place here along with other popular more contemporary favorites. Set in attractive baskets, bins, and jars it’s hard to resist!

There’s also a selection of chocolates (even from an Indiana chocolate company or two) and homemade fudge. Oh my! With seasonal flavors, there’s always something new!

Indiana Gift Shop

But  for most grown-ups, it’s the stuff that lies beyond the jam-packed candy table that will really set your heart aflutter.

Sock Monkeys in different shades and styles, Hello Kitty and other adorable stuffed animals, delicious local honey (that I can say from experience), sweet-smelling soy candles, attractive Faith-based decor, and then some are found in this Indiana gift shop!

From floor to ceiling, there are interesting, can’t live without items everywhere you look.

Carla’s Creations and Gifts doesn’t just sell items–she makes gorgeous gift baskets. As the recipient of one of these baskets (thanks Hendricks County!), I can tell you personally that they are fabulous! Fabulous!

Beasley's Orchard: Danville, Indiana

Beasley’s Orchard in Danville, Indiana is a sprawling orchard and farm stand.

Seasonal items are always available–and loads of fresh produce!

Danville, Indiana: Beasley’s Orchard

Known  for their Apple Cider, and yes, we can totally see why, we went behind the scenes to see where apples turn into this delicious drink!

The space where the action is, the old barn, has been used for just about everything farm related! It’s held items that range from machines to horses and now the retail market side of things as well as the apple cider production.

Built just after the Civil War, this is peg and beam construction! In other words, it is full of character and in amazingly good shape!

Hendricks County Apple Orchard (and more) 

Beasley's Orchard: Danville, Indiana

Seeing how apple cider is made was pretty neat. They make it in small batches and often sell out it’s very first day of production! Wowza. But this large orchard does more than just apples!

As a year round farmers market, they’ve got all sorts  of neat things for sale, from pre-packed items to fresh bulk fruits and veggies.

They harvest their produce by hand! We couldn’t resist running around the fields a bit and checking it out (we had permission).

A few events are held during the season, so if you are in the area, it might be something to keep in mind.

Otherwise, you know you can’t go wrong with fresh from the farm fruits and veggies! You’ll want to check out this Indiana orchard for sure!

Wall to wall and floor to ceiling, I couldn’t believe how many different bolts of fabrics were in this one building. Raders Fabrics is more than fabrics. We saw curtain rods and lace and ribbon too.

After our stop at Raders Fabrics, I sincerely wished I wasn’t so hopeless at sewing! There’s a lot of cute stuff there. Go check out this mom and pop shop. I know you’ll love it!

There are also stories of things that go bump in the night at this Danville, Indiana site. Wails, screams, glowing orbs–you know, the usual accompaniment to tales of hauntings.

Either way, we can probably all agree that these are incredible Indiana bridges. This metal truss bridge was built in 1877. Though long since closed to trains, it is now a walkable pedestrian bridge.

In other words? It was much easier to get a photo of this one than of its twin! Check them both out below.
