This Greensburg, Indiana BBQ joint has now made me crave the stuff. Done right, like everything served at Cecil’s Pork ‘N More that I tried, it’s an experience you won’t soon forget.

Cecil: you rock the kitchen! Our server was lovely and we were made to feel like locals. Go there and feel like one of the gang. Isn’t it about time you actually enjoyed your meal? This is little Indiana!

But I did. This Greensburg, Indiana attraction is toddler heaven (and popular with us grown-ups too!).

I am in awe of Indiana. Yet again, she proves to me that her backyard holds a whole lot of fun things if I will only be so bold as to go and explore them. But since I dream of made-up little Indiana towns in my sleep…I don’t see myself ending this adventure for a long, long time!

Stapps Circle S Ranch: Greensburg, Indiana

Stapps Circle S Ranch in Greensburg, Indiana is many things: Amazing, incredible, fun, and educational!

During our little Indiana visit, I had the chance to pet a baby tiger. Yes, you read that right–a living, breathing baby tiger in a small Indiana town.

Pulling up to Stapps Circle S Ranch, you will immediately find yourself surrounded by a variety of animals in a variety of pens stretching over more than 30 acres.

I know that when someone mentioned that they had a baby tiger and I could pet him, I was pretty sure I misheard. Until I got to pet him!

That was a ball of cuteness wrapped in sleek, stripey fur! Like a domestic cat, he just wanted attention–and lots of it! As soon as the owner walked away and left him, he cried for him to come back! It was so sweet. It’s easy to see that the owner cares as much for these animals as they do about him!

But, we had a tour to take. So, we hopped in the big “train” and away we went!

At Stapps Circle S Ranch I learned that llamas do not like me. As you can see from the image on the right, I was given the stare-down.

But it was so cute, I couldn’t stop taking photos. Just look at that face!

We saw (and sometimes even fed) plenty of other animals as well: Goats, Ring-Tailed Lemur, Sheep, Tortoise, and big exotics, too.

Our boys fed a Capuchin Monkey, the same type of monkey found in the movie A Night at the Museum–Kid #1 loved that!

I can’t begin to tell you how much fun all of us had at this unique Indiana attraction.

Just look at the image to the left. Now that was the strangest chicken I ever did see. Apparently, that kitty has lived in there since birth–and does not want to leave!

Cecils Pork N More: Greensburg, Indiana

Something about Cecil’s Pork ‘N More in Greensburg, Indiana caught my eye–there was a commercial smoker sitting out in the front!

By now, you should know how I love my freshly smoked pork products. That is good stuff indeed.

Step inside and try to resist the impulse to purchase one of everything. It smells so good!

There is nothing quite like an Indiana mom and pop restaurant that has their own commercial smoker. Nothing.

There’s a white board with a handful of daily specials as well as a full menu. Seat yourself or order at the counter and take it home.

We got the kids the Pork Sliders. It comes with 3 of them! Perfect!

Hubs ordered the Brisket and I got the Pork Burger. I do love a good burger! We had the Fried Potatoes with Onions.

You would think that potatoes and onions would not be so exciting, however–Cecil’s Pork ‘N More does something magical to them. I could have licked my plate they were so darn good!

Fresh from the smoker and the kitchen, everything was just awesome.

I also over-estimated my appetite (and the portions) and ordered dessert: the daily special of Peach Cobbler. It was so worth it, though!

But, as you may have noticed, travel writing is not for the faint of heart. Our trips do not always run so smooth.

Hubs lifted up angry, pouting toddler over the table (aka Kid #2) and managed to clank his feet against the giant Ball jar filled with (delicious) Sweet Tea. What a mess!

The folks at Cecil’s Pork ‘N More handed over paper towels and were so very nice about it! They even sent over some small kid-sized bowls of their daily special, the Peach Cobbler.

It was unexpected but very appreciated. Thank you so much!

The service was fantastic and the food was even better–if that’s even possible.

This Decatur County restaurant will be receiving a whole new look. As if you needed another reason to check it out! Just don’t forget to tell ‘em that little Indiana sent you.

Greensburg, Indiana: Decatur County Courthouse

Greensburg, Indiana is a phenomenal small town. Shops and restaurants are all lined up along a spacious and well-kept square.

The Decatur Courthouse is really sharp, too. Keep looking up, though–you’ll notice a tree sticking out of the roof!

So–what’s with the tree? To answer that question, you have to go back a few years. Many years.

A very long time ago, what most folks agree was around 1870, a tree was noted to be sprouting on top of the very tall courthouse roof.

But the Decatur County Courthouse roof did not sustain just one tree at the time–it had five!

The roots of a tree can do a fair amount of damage–so all but one of the trees was removed.

The tree you see on top of the Decatur  County Courthouse is not the tree from 1870. After the tree grows for a time, it does wither and die.

But don’t worry–a new tree always sprouts up in its place!

No one is sure exactly how the tree got up there or how it sustains itself–though my guess to its birth would include birds.

It’s certainly unusual. Go check out the towering Mulberry Tree for yourself. Greensburg, Indiana is an awesome Indiana town–and it’s certainly a site to see!

Indiana Apple Orchard

Lucky Greensburg, Indiana residents (and beyond) can enjoy the bounty of the season as well as homemade lunches inside the nicely decorated converted barn building. Country comfort at its best!

If you haven’t made it out to Highpoint Orchard, you have got to make the time to make the trip! From the view to the fruit and our lunch–little Indiana and family are beyond impressed. What a wonderful way to spend the afternoon.

Just don’t forget dessert. The homemade pies are delicious. You know it’s all in the name of little Indiana research!

Autumn is in the air–so why not celebrate the bounty of the season from an Indiana orchard like Highpoint Orchard in Greensburg, Indiana?

Highpoint Orchard is more than an orchard, it’s also cafe, event hall, and meeting space!

little Indiana and family had the great good fortune of enjoying lunch at this scenic point. Three words: Fresh, fresh, and fresh!

Everything on the menu is freshly prepared–and you can taste the difference. What did we order? Well, it was certainly hard to decide!

Highland Orchard Cafe: Greensburg, Indiana

The kids were easy enough: Kid #1 wanted a burger and Kid #2 got a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Hubs and I waffled. I finally decided on the popular Chicken Salad on a Croissant with the Orchard Salad–pecans, cran-raisins, feta cheese, blueberries and peaches under a pretty pink raspberry vinaigrette dressing. Lovely!

Hubs got the Chicken Avocado Wrap which was a thing of beauty: Chicken and avocado with cheese, red onions, tomatoes, and greens. YUM!

Dessert? This IS little Indiana! But you’ll have to stay tuned to read all about that one.

Highland Orchard: Greensburg, Indiana View

Let’s not get so distracted by the mouth-watering food that we forget a key part of this Indiana orchard–the orchard! Rows and rows of various fruit trees surround the property.

It’s beautiful. I can easily see small weddings, graduation, or anniversary parties taking advantage of the great photo opps.

Highpoint Orchard has plenty of big ideas in the works to add on to the already big list of things they have successfully accomplished! Renovating a historic home is hard enough–through in outbuildings and an orchard and it’s amazing what they’ve done.

Go There

Go there for lunch, grab one of the neat gifty items to treat a friend, and don’t forget to bring home some fresh fruit! We sampled an assortment of apples and pears–trust me, you won’t want to leave empty-handed!

Greensburg, Indiana: Dawg House Guacamole Hot Dog

little Indiana is in the Dawg House in Greensburg, Indiana–and lovin’ it!

If you thought that a hot dog is nothing more than a bun and beef frank, prepare to be wowed.

As the owner says, it’s “Where the only time being in the Dawg House is a good thing!” I can’t help but agree. It certainly is good!

Hip and fun, it’s a gleaming 50′s style hang-out. Black and white tiles, exposed brick, and a retro counter add to the fun. Hilarious comics dot the walls.

They deliver to folks in this Indiana town and even serve beer. The free Wi-Fi is just a nice little bonus!

The Dawg House Menu

This menu? Is giant! However would little Indiana choose?

Hubs decided instantly: Guacamole Hot Dog with a side of chips. Kid #1 got a cheese dog and I? Well, let’s take a look at what I could have ordered!

There’s also the Tex-Mex Dog, a Coney Hot Dog, the Sombrero Dog, and the spicy Firehouse Dawg. There’s  also 25 dogs on the menu! But then I saw it…

If you’ve been following along in little Indiana for awhile, then you know how much I like a good Reuben sandwich. The Dawg House? Had a Reuben Hot Dog!

My Reuben Dog, or Dawg as they spell it, was the best hot dog I have ever eaten.

Swiss cheese, thousand island, and sauerkraut on an all-beef frank. Delicious! Who would have thought?

Hubs was in love with his Guacamole Dog. He agreed–best hot dog that HE’S ever had.

Feeling adventurous? Finish a 22 lb hot dog with the works and win a t-shirt! Did I try? Not this time–and only if we can make it a Reuben Dog!

You’ll Howl for More

If you are a hot dog lover or just want a place to hang out, the Dawg House in Greensburg, Indiana is it!

It has everything–great food, great atmosphere, Wi-Fi, and even beer. It’s a restaurant that I believe is destined to be the favorite local hangout in the years to come!
