Indiana Easter Egg Hunts

Batesville, Indiana — RomWeber Marketplace has 40,000 square feet in which to hunt eggs! Is that neat or what?

Blufton, Indiana — More than just an Easter Egg Hunt, there’s also a Peeps Eating Contest! Now that would be a sight to see. But the folks in Blufton, Indiana win the award for most unusual–there’s also a dog Easter Egg Hunt! Is that hilarious or what?

Lowell, Indiana — This Easter Egg Hunt isn’t just for kids aged 1 – 11, but includes a special needs area too. Everyone can join in the fun!

Oldenburg, Indiana — Located on the grounds of the Sisters of St.Francis Oldenburg, I’m guessing this is going to be one fun hunt.

Rensselaer, Indiana — This indoor Easter Egg Hunt venue is unique. In fact–it’s inside of the Fountain Stone Movie Theater! Rain day? Doesn’t even matter.

Whiting, Indiana — More than just an Easter Egg Hunt, you can enjoy a buffet of kid-friendly foods as well as fun activities.

Go get your chocolate fix. Have fun, play games, and enjoy the small town life. But most of all? Have a happy holiday in little Indiana!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas–especially if you are in Holly Tree, a Christmas and seasonal shop in Santa Claus, Indiana!

But when you are in Spencer County, you come to expect these kind of shopping gems. Like so many of Spencer County’s attractions, Holly Tree is cute and packed full of surprises.

Get in the Christmas Spirit any time of the year at Holly Tree. This is one small Indiana town shop you just don’t want to miss!

little Indiana and family were back in Santa Claus, Indiana!

This time we discovered Holly Tree, a really cute Christmas and seasonal shop!

On the outside, it’s really hard to tell the size of the Holly Tree Christmas Shop. Prepare yourself for all the fun Christmas items on the inside.

I have a thing for snowflakes and snowmen. This Indiana town mom and pop had some things I hadn’t seen before and would love to add to my holiday decor.

Her decorated trees are so cute. I so need her to come over and do ours!

Santa Claus, Indiana: Holly Tree Mistletoe

She had many different kinds of ornaments, of course, but also a few more unusual tree trimming related items–like the top hat tree topper!

I personally love the Santa Key, the special key you leave outside your door on Christmas Eve so Santa can get in. Definitely safer (and cleaner) than diving down a chimney.

But most of all, I enjoyed browsing through the different kinds of dishware. So many cute things that need one simple (yummy) addition: Christmas cookies!

Santa Claus, Indiana: Holly Tree Christmas and Seasonal Shop Bird Ornament

Like any good Hoosier, I will even give you a landmark of something that is no longer there to help you figure out where it is.

You know the Santa Claus Museum and it’s old shopping strip location?

Well, there’s a series of shops along the back of that strip. Turn around so your back faces the location of the old museum and you’ll notice the small group of shops across the back of the parking lot.

Go in and find a great selection of things you haven’t seen before! It’s in Spencer County–and you know that they do Christmas right!

Hendricks County Holly Days: Images from Danville, Indiana

Hendricks County Holly Days is a fantastic way to ring in the holiday season. Or, more specifically, Danville, Indiana and Christmas on the Square!

As you can see below–this town has gone all out for Christmas! I love the street lamp snowflakes. That’s something I hadn’t seen before.

There’s all sorts of wonderful photo opportunities scattered around the Square in Danville. My favorite was this one–the ginormous “bowl” of ornaments. The festivities are still going on throughout Hendricks County. What a fun way to celebrate!

When you are in little Indiana, you should expect anything–and when it comes to the Rockport, Indiana Annual Christmas Program, you should expect amazing!

Located at the beautiful Spencer County Courthouse, THIS is how to usher in Christmas!

Rockport Annual Christmas Program

Our program said “local talent” and, if you are anything like me, you may have cringed slightly at that statement. However–I was completely blown away by the musical prowess of the people who live in this tiny Indiana town.

Located inside the basement of the courthouse, this is an awesome space. Once used as a meeting place for teachers back in the 1920′s, it is in its original condition, vintage chairs, stage, and all!

Now it’s main purpose is to hold the annual Rockport Christmas Program two days out of the year.

Coat and tie means that everyone looks great and just adds to that whole festive feeling. Well, except for us–we spent the afternoon exploring Rockport’s great outdoors and probably looked a little worse for the wear!

For the Saturday night performance, you can catch the Spencer County Community Band playing in the beautiful courthouse. While you would think it would sound horrible (all those echoing sounds), I have heard it is a surprisingly wonderful space to hear music!

Santa also takes tickets. We had to switch to Sunday’s Matinee so we missed out on the Santa part unfortunately.

Rockport is Rockin’

You know what I hope? I hope that after seeing this article, that you’ll plan on purchasing tickets in advance–and get them to put on more than just two shows.

Talent this amazing needs to be shared–and two days aren’t enough! I didn’t expect to be completely awed by vocal performers and musicians!

But hubs and I weren’t the only ones in awe–our kids thoroughly enjoyed it! Make it a Christmas tradition in your family, too.

Hendricks County Holly Days: Christmas Fun in Danville, Indiana

Hendricks County Courthouse Christmas

little Indiana and family love a good celebration–and Christmas on The Square in Danville, Indiana sounded like a great way to ring in the holidays!

Centered around the spacious Hendricks County Courthouse Square, it was absolutely magical.

White lights were strung from the elegant Hendricks County Courthouse to the various businesses across the street. On the lawn sat an unlit Christmas tree.

Now, this is really cute and something I hadn’t seen a small Indiana town do before–they had a giant light switch next to the unlit tree in the “Off” position.

One lucky kid would get to meet Santa and help him flick the switch.

In a flash, all the lights turned on and bathed the Square in Christmas cheer! We ooh-ed and aah-ed with the rest of ‘em.

Things to Do Around Danville Square

But that wasn’t all! There was also free ice skating–shoe rental was just $1. You could bring your own and skate away!

It wasn’t actual ice. Composed of interlocking hard plastic-like pieces, I’ve heard it is what hockey players practice on.

Kid #1 had so much fun–even though he spent more time falling than actually skating!

Even so, I don’t think he stopped smiling for a minute (and he was out there for more than half an hour)!

More to See and Do

Danville, Indiana Christmas Live Nativity

Inside the beautiful Hendricks County Courthouse were “Reindeer Games.”

These were just different skill games that, once completed, enabled little ones to trade in a ticket for a prize.

Kid #2, however, favored the live Nativity above all the rest.

More than the people, this one also had chickens, lambs, a donkey, and even a camel! He was so excited about that–and kept saying, “Horse!” This is where he wanted to hang out while big brother was ice skating!

Hendricks County Does Christmas

Except for Santa Claus, Indiana, I don’t think I’ve ever seen the halls decked quite so merrily. There’s a lot to love in this great small town!

Santa Claus, Indiana: Story Time with Santa in Santa’s Lodge

At Santa’s Lodge in Santa Claus, Indiana, bumping into Santa is the norm.

For Kid #1, story time with Santa and Mrs. Claus was the highlight of their Santa-themed programs during the month of December in this great Indiana town.

It was just cute. Kids all gathered in their snuggly pajamas with the youngest members of the group running in circles because they were so excited.

Before the story began, kids lined up for more pictures with Santa and the Mrs., this time in the handsome sleigh in the lobby of Santa’s Lodge.

With the Christmas tree as the backdrop, you can imagine how cute these pictures turned out!

Up Close and Personal with The Big Guy

Here’s a little Indiana tip for you: don’t feel like you have to rush down there ten minutes before 7:30. Every kid gets their picture taken with Santa and, unlike the mall, they aren’t rushed right through (parents are ensured a good shot!).

If you have little ones who really don’t do well waiting then you might want to head in a bit later. There were a lot of kids to get through.

Our toddler couldn’t make it through the waiting game and hubs had to give up and return to the room for bedtime. But Kid #1? Absolutely loved it! The cookies and milk at the end are a nice touch.

Santa is Here! Santa Claus, Indiana: Breakfast with Santa in St. Nick’s Restaurant

Santa’s Lodge in Santa Claus, Indiana has Kid #1 pretty much convinced that that is where Santa lives. As a matter of fact, he refers to the town as “Santa Claus little Indiana.”

Looking back, why wouldn’t he think that?

We had dinner with Santa, we had story time with Santa, and would you believe we even had breakfast with the guy?

Mrs. Claus has to be lonely. little Indiana and family saw Santa so many times over the course of our stay at Santa’s Lodge in this small Indiana town, Kid #1 couldn’t believe it!

Breakfast with Santa took place at St. Nick’s Restaurant located off the lobby and downstairs at Santa’s Lodge.

We got a table by the window with a view of the spacious deck and the lake. It must be nice to sit out there in warmer weather!

I would, again, recommend changing up the times you normally eat so you can beat the crowd. We arrived at St. Nick’s restaurant slightly before 10 AM and had to wait for another table to finish up so we could have the baby seat.

That said, 10 AM was great! The place had pretty much cleared out, the buffet was still fresh, and we just about had Santa (and the buffet) all to ourselves.

The Breakfast with Santa buffet is definitely kid friendly: french toast sticks, pancakes, hash browns, and a few other choices. Both kids enjoyed it–and the baby really liked having another Christmas tree to ogle!
