Apparently folks just like to take photos of this North Liberty, Indiana shop’s exterior and she had always wondered why–and finally had a chance to ask!

While I had a pretty good reason (so I could share it with all of you), doesn’t it just make you wonder about everyone else? There is only one little Indiana!

Yum Yum Shoppe: North Liberty, Indiana

Although this mom and pop ice cream shop is open year round–they do more than just the usual one or two scoops of ice cream.

If you’ve been following along in the travels of little Indiana, then you probably know that I love ice cream.

After I saw the menu, I had to get the S’more Sundae. You just can’t go wrong with hot fudge, crunched up cones, marshmallow, and chocolate ice cream, ya know?

Hubs ordered the Durty Turtle, a yummy-looking blend of Butter Pecan Ice Cream, Caramel, and Chocolate.

There’s more than ice cream in this year-round St. Joseph County business! With a menu that includes pizza and sandwiches, this is the local hangout!

Each year, they pick one night in which they hold extended hours—we’re talking midnight kind of extended hours!

Called Moonlight Dips, it’s something the whole area looks forward to each Summer. Who can blame them?

With a specially chosen theme and fun activities to match, folks can get ice cream (and have fun) very late indeed.

It’s just another cute small Indiana town event that you may not want to miss. Did I mention there are prizes? As if you need a reason to get dessert.

Who needs big box ice cream shops anyway? The Yum Yum Shoppe is definitely a scoop above!

It’s a fun atmosphere and a really nice selection of cool treats. I’ll have to make a return trip–it’s all in the name of research, though, right?

Busy Bee Freeze in Rensselaer, Indiana

Busy Bee in Rensselaer, Indiana is THE place to go for soft serve ice cream in all sorts of shapes and sizes!

I can readily admit that my superhero weakness is ice cream.  Summer or winter – I like it, I love it, I want some more of it!  Busy Bee had me at HELLO!

Just off “the Square” in Rensselaer, Indiana, it’s easy to find. Just look for the really tall sign proclaiming the changing weekly special.

Did someone say Blue Moon ice cream? Yes, that mystical, magical flavor of pure awesomeness makes an appearance here each year.

So, too does Blue Raspberry, White Cake Batter, German Chocolate, Strawberry, and a whole bunch more. Isn’t it fun to mix it up a bit every now and again?

Indiana Ice Cream Shop

At Busy Bee, I decided that I had to try the “crunch” cone. Good stuff.

The kid had a colorful sprinkle cone and they put a face on it! How cute. Hubs had a Peanut Butter Shake.  Everyone was happy!

Now, they do have something called a Tornado which is similar to a big box sort of ice cream confection that you are probably familiar with–but these are so much better. We’re talking awesome flavors here! My personal fave? S’mores (but you have to try it with vanilla ice cream).

Food, Food, Glorious Food

Of course, there’s more than that! Busy Bee pushes out all sorts of sweet treats like slushies, banana splits, shakes, FlavorBurst, which is vanilla ice cream swirled with your choice of flavoring, and then some. Yup, something for everyone!

Busy Bee Freeze is only open Spring to Fall so don’t take too long getting out to this cute Indiana town!  Add Busy Bee to your must visit list of small town places this summer–you’ll thank me later!
