The farmer’s market (and all its glorious local plants) aren’t exactly a year round event here in little Indiana and not every small town has a local florist. For those that don’t, well, I’d like to introduce you to Proflowers.com, who graciously offered to send little Indiana one item of my choice for an honest review for free.

Sure I could have chosen one of the many gift baskets with chocolate or fruit but, and I know you will be surprised when I say this: I didn’t go after the food. Instead, I chose the Palm Sago Bonsai. Well, I do go out of my way for food quite often and sending food through the mail just isn’t me – but sending something living? Totally.

Let me just say that I am beyond impressed! This baby was packed amazingly well – and it’s big! Tape held the 16” tall plant in place and prevented dirt from spraying out all over the place during shipping. The leaves mostly look healthy (I’ve got a couple funky curling leaves but those will heal in time). Plus, they have a prickly feel which should effectively deter the large orange kitties in our house.

All in all, if I sent one of these bad boys to someone – they would be delighted. What a wonderful reminder of summer during the dreadfully long winter!
