I thought it would be fun to share great moments of the year in images. We sure stepped up our traveling this year–and I sure upped my posting schedule! Yet my promise to you remains the same: on little Indiana, you will only find Indiana town places and spaces that I’ve personally visited.

Based on the emails and conversations I’ve had over the years, I know that it’s not always easy to find these little places or know what is located right around you. At times–it can seem almost impossible!

The little Indiana Travel App possesses a smart mapping function to help you take the guesswork out of your Indiana town travels. From your location, it can figure out the places nearest to you in three categories: Stay, Play, and Eat!

Click on one of those categories to turn off that function. Want to see only shopping, museums, and other Indiana attractions? Click on Stay and Eat, turning them off and revealing only the items categorized “Play!”

With the same features as the iPhone/iPad Travel App, you’ll always know where to go and what to do in Indiana towns (populations 15,000 and under).

My favorite features include:

• Mobile Website — Stay up to date on the latest and greatest. Access little Indiana anytime, anywhere.
• Special Offers — You just never know what mom and pop shops will cook up next! Watch this section for special steals and deals only available for little Indiana readers!
• And more — There’s more  on this app–go see for yourself! After all, you can’t play Plants vs. Zombies all the time.

Like little Indiana the website, the travel apps will be updated and kept current, reflecting recent travels across the state. From end to end and top to bottom, there’s always something to do in little Indiana! You just didn’t know where–until now!

While the in-article Google maps are helpful, I wanted more. My favorite feature (and the one that took me forever to do) is the smart mapping.

Let your phone pinpoint your exact location–and show you all the mom and pop businesses that I have personally visited that are right around you!

Toggle between three choices: Stay, Play, and Eat.

Stay equals lodging like Indiana bed and breakfasts or inns that I have personally visited. Eat are the restaurants, bakeries, candy stores, etc. where I’ve eaten. Play is everything else from attractions like Holiday World to old Pioneer Cemeteries to Indiana bridges.

Get more info about a particular place directly from the mapping screen. See any of my suggestions, like a house specialty or little-known tip, and read the original article on little Indiana.

More than Mapping

While the mapping function will make you wonder how you ever lived without it, there are other features!

In case you hadn’t noticed, the little Indiana Facebook Fan Page is pretty busy and full of conversation–and is now easy to access right from the little Indiana App. Twitter, too.

You will also find the most recent articles listed for little Indiana and little Indiana Businesses. Have something to say? Post it on the “Fan Wall” right within the App!

If you are lucky, in the future you may even come across a special deal just for little Indiana readers.
