Little Indiana hit up Fair Oaks Farm in Fair Oaks, Indiana. I had been hearing about it for so long, I decided that today was the day. I had to see for myself what it was all about. So, I dragged the family along with me, though with the prospect of cheese, and a playground, no one was particularly upset about it.

This locally owned and operated dairy is massive. What would I consider massive? Oh, 19,000 acres. It’s not all devoted to the attraction, however, a significant portion of the property includes a bundle of amusements set to entertain and education.

As you can see from the video below it’s not just cows, cows, and more cows. It’s also a cheese shop, a children’s playground, 4D Video, toddler playground, barn tour, and birthing arena. It makes for a very full, fun day.

The Cheese Shop at Fair Oaks Farms

Things to Do at Fair Oaks Farms

The cheese shop at Fair Oaks Farms carries, you guessed it, the award-winning Fair Oaks Cheese. Have you had a sample yet? The Sweet Swiss is amazing. I’m not the only one who thinks so. It has snagged a few awards, including Best of Class at American Cheese Society (2005), US Cheese Awards (2005), and the World Cheese Awards (2004).

Love Asiago cheese? Me too. The mild Asiago won the US Cheese Contest (2005). Gouda is a favorite cheese of our oldest son, as well as one of my own favorites. Isn’t that funny? He’s only five years old. The Fair Oaks Farms Aged Gouda was delicious! Oh, I really enjoyed that cheese. It is no surprise to me that it won Best of Class Awards three times in three different competitions. That’s just a small highlight of their cheeses that have garnered awards. There are more cheeses where that came from.

Fortunately, you can do a little tasting yourself at the cheese shop inside the Fair Oaks Farms building to better decide what fits your tastes and those of your family. They do have online ordering in case you forget to bring a cooler with you on the day you choose to visit.

The Children’s Playground

Run wild! The children’s playground was wonderful. From the tall milk carton climbing wall to the maze to the pedal tractors, it was nothing but fun for our oldest (our other son is only a baby but he did enjoy watching).

Stay tuned for plenty of Fair Oaks Farm fun in Fair Oaks, Indiana. How incredible that this tiny town has something so big. In the meantime, you can see me having fun, Indiana town style. Because, really, who can resist a giant bouncy pillow? Tip: bring socks if you plan to play on the bouncy pillow. It is HOT!
