Indiana Blogs: Indiana Mom

An Indiana Mom is an Indiana blog that is crafty, exploring, and baking deliciousness all wrapped up in a fun and funky blog.

When Kelly isn’t making something yummy in the kitchen, she’s probably doing some really neat hands-on project with her two kids!

Ooblok and Painting Rocks and Marble Painting–Oh my! Dig in and get your craft and baking groove on.

Indiana Blogs: An Indiana Mom

Why did you start An Indiana Mom?
I started blogging as a way to keep track of all the fun things we do as a family and a way to share it with some of the family and friends that live a few states away! I started the blog in August 2008 when my kids were just 1 and 2, and now they are 4 and 5!

What are three of your most favorite posts?
I really had fun doing a Cookie of the Week feature a little while back, but the craft posts are fun too!

My top three would have to be:
1. The Open book festival in South Bend
2. My 14 layer cake!
3. Rainbow Day

With a blog name like that, well, have you lived in Indiana all your life? What do you think the best part of being a Hoosier is?
I have lived in Indiana ever since I was 6, and have lived in a few different places along the Northern portion. I grew up in Schererville, met, and married my husband in Valparaiso, and am raising a family in the South Bend area.

I love that we have 4 distinct seasons, we can go to the farms and orchards to pick our own fruits and vegetables in the summer and fall, and I love that we have big cities, and small towns with so much to explore!

What keeps you ready and raring to post? Why do you blog?
I take tons of pictures of all the things we do as a family, and I love being able to share them with people. I also enjoy doing fun craft days with my kids along with a moms group that I organize.

I blog to stay in touch with family and friends, but to also help others find fun things to do, see, and make with their families as well.

You are a very hands-on mom. What’s something that surprised you about having kids?
My kids were due the same day a year apart, and I figured with them so close together that they might have some similar personality traits, but no. My two get along very well, and can often feed off each other, but they are so very different.

It has been interesting to see the differences between the two as they grow!

Do you have a life motto or quote?
My husband and I often tell each other, “You and me against the world”. It is just our way of saying that with the two of us together we can take on anything!

The 80’s. Name your favorite 80’s movie!
Oh man, there are just too many to choose from. Um, I would have to say…The Blues Brothers! Hah, I threw you for a loop on that one, right?

Is there anything else that you would like little Indiana readers to know about your blog?
Just that I would like to thank them for taking the time to check out my little blog. I really appreciate any and all comments and views. It really means a lot to me!
