This Snickerdoodle Cookie Recipe is the best! Growing up, I thought I hated Snickerdoodle Cookies. The only kind I had ever had were hard as a rock.
Until I tried this recipe on a whim. I found it online somewhere many years ago (I could tell you where if my handwritten recipe wasn’t smeared) and it’s the only one I use. Everyone raves about these Snickerdoodle Cookies!
Soft and Cinnamon-y, you can easily get kids involved in this one! They love to take the scoops of dough and roll them around in the cinnamon sugar mixture. It saves you a step and everyone gets to be involved. Win/win!

Soft Snickerdoodle Cookie Recipe
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Margarine
- 1/2 cup Shortening
- 1 1/2 cup Sugar
- 2 Eggs
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract (Optional)
- 2 3/4 Cup Flour
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- 1 tsp Salt
- 2 tsp Cream of Tarter
- 1/4 Cup Sugar
- 4 Tablespoons Cinnamon
Instructions
- 325* Oven.
- Cream Margarine, Shortening and Sugar in bowl of electric mixer.
- Add Eggs and mix well. (I usually add a teaspoon of Vanilla Extract as well).
- Combine Flour, Baking Soda, Salt, and Cream of Tartar in separate bowl then add to creamed mixture. Or, do like I do and throw them all on top, then swish around a bit with the spoon, before mixing it all together.
- Combine sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
- Grab that 3 Tablespoon cookie dough scoop and drop them into the Cinnamon/Sugar mix. Flatten slightly with a fork.
- On greased or parchment paper lined cookie sheet, bake cookies for 10-15 minutes if you make them larger like I do. Small cookie can get done in less than 10 minutes but they just don't seem as soft.
