Boner Bridge, also known as Pyeatt’s Mill Bridge in Hatfield, Indiana is a phenomenal bridge. This Indiana bridge is very tucked away in Hatfield, Indiana–but completely worth the trip. We got lost as usual, but wow–what a bridge. It is the last of its kind. Yes, this bridge located out in the middle of nowhere, is the last remaining metal bridge in Indiana. Its remoteness is probably what saved it.

Some people get so obsessed with having the latest and greatest they forget how to appreciate the here and now. They stop seeing things as being useful and in good shape and just think about what they can do to “keep up with the times.” It is kind of like “keeping up with the Jones'” but in the world of historic structures and buildings, it is a disastrous combination. Just use the search bar above to read about the Randolph County Courthouse to see what I mean. All it takes are a couple of people in power who lack a sense of connection with history, place, and the foresight to view these things as tourist attractions. Hey, we were out there! Judging from your emails and Facebook posts and messages, you have been too. I don’t know what the answer is although I think a new way of teaching history is probably in order–and frequent visits to local museums!

Still in use today, it’s an amazing Indiana attraction. Locals use this bridge that connects Spencer and Warrick Counties. They just don’t make ’em like they used to! Functional and lovely. Although it was a miserable wet and cold day out, the colors were incredible. When you visit, please be careful and watch for other cars.
