With such a diverse selection of things that lean toward the vintage shabby chic sort of style, this Fountain County home decor shop is a feast for the eyes.
Myrtle, Maude, and Mabel’s in Covington, Indiana
This is one of those pretty shops. The kind of shop that inspires me to be more creative in my home decorating, to think outside the box, and embrace a fresh spin on traditional furnishings and accessories.
Boasting a selection of fresh herbs and carrying items that range from garden decor to wall art, everything is arranged just so.
Truth be told, even little Indiana couldn’t resist the allure of this one. That shelf (shown above) is now hanging on a wall in my kitchen and waiting for the perfect (small) potted plant to grace its surface. It’s out there in an Indiana town somewhere. I just have to find it!

Myrtle, Maude, and Mabel’s is not an Indiana antique shop. Well, not exactly. Think of it as re-purposed or embellished items that are occasionally vintage.
You know, giving ordinary items new life with a whole new take–and sometimes even a new purpose.
There’s a lot of cleverness here that frequently made me think “Martha Stewart”: a tin-backed bulletin board, a fabric-covered pin board surrounded by a vintage frame, and random things like patterned letters and old keys that just look neat.
In other words, I can’t believe I stepped in and out with only one purchase! This is my kind of shop!

It holds its own in this amazing downtown and definitely adds to Covington’s appeal as a stand-alone destination. Located right downtown, you can add “easy to find” to your list of reasons why you should go!
Head there for the friendly people, the adorable downtown, and lovely little shops like Myrtle, Maude, and Mabel’s in Covington, Indiana.
