Farris Wheel Antiques and Collectibles: Peru, Indiana

Farris Wheel Antiques and Collectibles in Peru, Indiana is a very lovely home turned antique shop–two whole floors of things of all kinds. We had decided to spend the day in Peru. We weren’t alone: we brought a friend along for the ride.

Her daughter was also in the area so, we figured she could go with for a visit, and also see a little bit of what we do when we are on trips. We all loved discovering this amazing shop. It’s a spectacular place to find antiques that are high quality and functional.

This Miami County antique shop is so amazing. They carry a line of colorful chalk paint and have spruced up a few items with the stuff. Actually, I should rephrase that. They have taken that paint and worked wonders with a slew of pieces. I loved the dressers and desks that I saw that had been redone with the chalk paint. The colors are so vibrant and bold, a coat or two of this paint makes pieces that would have looked ho-hum and boring with their basic plain colors of oak or other woods, look fresh and a touch modern. I’m not saying I don’t like the look of wood, I’m just saying that there are some tones of wood that aren’t as attractive as others. In this case, these pieces are really “wow!”

The boys and I found a few vintage board games. We are always hunting for the next new favorite family game. They had games we had never seen before. We did leave home with a few, one of which is an old Lassie game. I can’t resist a game that boasts classic fun. It should be fun for us to play the next rainy day we have. Family game night, here we come.

I love the way each of the rooms at the Farris Wheel Antiques and Collectibles feels like it is themed. Downstairs you will find the most larger pieces of furniture. Upstairs, you will find nicely sized rooms with a different sort of feel to each one. One room had a lot of kitchen pieces. We picked up a set of measuring cups for our sons’ play kitchen for a great price. Another room felt country, with a bit of patriotic and general country decor. Another room held shabby chic items–and I loved that room. There were some pieces of furniture in that room, too. It is fantastic.

It’s just fun. I could have easily taken home plenty more from this Peru, Indiana shop other than the four vintage board games but, alas…the kids had to fit in the car. Poke around outside. Around the back of the business, you will find a lot of antiques, from planters to benches.
