When I think of an art supplies shop, Galatea’s Art Supplies and Gifts in Madison, Indiana is exactly what comes to mind. There is something about the neatly organized rows of paints, the stacks of fresh sketch books, and the packets of vivid colored pencils, that I find so appealing. If only had that kind of talent to be able to do something with it all. Instead, I just admire and stand in awe watching artists at work.

At Galatea’s, the work space is particularly enticing, what with the paint splattered tables, books open to study or glean inspiration, and works of art in various stages of completion. I love every bit of it. Our sons did too.
They were looking around at all of the different kinds of art supplies. They were taken with the colors of paints and the shades of the pencils. I got busy browsing through the unique gift items here. They are locally-made and excellent. If you need a gift for someone on your list, this is where you need to go. There’s a nice variety. I love the neat handmade cards. How do people come up with this stuff? It’s so clever.
Not so artsy? I hear you. Trust me, I feel your pain. While I’m convinced that just stepping inside of this Madison, Indiana art supply and more shop will give you the inspiration you need to get your projects going, and to finally create something you can be proud of, they do offer classes as well as a selection of locally made gifts.

I think that the neatest thing that I have ever seen come out of an art studio is this: toddler time. Yes, this Madison art studio provides a special art-oriented time that’s just for toddlers and young children ages 0 – 5. At the time of this writing, there was a $5 fee to participate. Affordable and fantastic!
Now you don’t need to worry about digging out all those craft supplies, worry about the mess you will need to deal with later, and wondering if your kids are being exposed to enough messy, artsy play. Instead, you can simply bring them to Galatea’s Art Supplies and Gifts and know that it is covered.
So, even those of us not so handy with paint or pencils can find something neat right here and support a local business in the process. Don’t give the same old gifts, give something that’s unique and one of a kind–much like the fantastic Jefferson County shop itself.
