It’s a good thing that National Trail Antique Mall in Dunreith, Indiana has a long parking lot or we would have had to turn around.
We just weren’t expecting to see an antique shop here–and I’m so glad we stopped while toodling along the Historic National Road!

It’s true: appearances are deceiving! National Trail Antique Mall felt almost endless. Whenever I thought I was just about through it, I seemed to enter another little room or section.
There are some of the most incredible Indiana antiques that I have ever seen. It’s as though they picked up boxes and boxes of things that people collected. There’s not just one or two neat vintage bottles but this awesome shelf of them. There’s also boxes of buttons and metal tops and mannequin hands. Pretty creepy, but there you go.
You just never know what you will find! And that is certainly the mark of a great Indiana antique shop!

I couldn’t get over the uniqueness of this Henry County antique shop. Kid #1 thought it was particularly amazing–I mean, it’s not every day that you find a whole section of baseball bats!
Records, tea cups, costume jewelry…and probably one of the more unusual finds. You know those machines that flatten a penny and imprint it with the name and a picture of wherever you are?
Well, National Trail Antique Mall had a whole bunch of those! Ohio, Indiana, there were these souvenir pennies from all over the place and to commemorate all kinds of events.

I consider it more proof that there’s always something to do in a small town.
