Indiana Blogs: Treble in the Kitchen

Indiana Blogs: Treble in the Kitchen

Treble in the Kitchen is an Indiana blog (edited to add: this blogger has since moved out of state) that is a fun mix of recipes, fitness, and everyday life. Lately, though, you will find a mix of wedding festivities added into the mix as this blogger is soon to be married.

I know you will enjoy a peek into the life of this busy and active blogger–and will soon feel inspired to cause some “treble” in the kitchen yourself.

Indiana Blogs: Treble in the Kitchen

Why did you start Treble in the Kitchen?
Treble in the Kitchen came to life in June 2011 as a way for me to connect with others who have a passion for fitness, food, and mostly healthy living.  I wanted to document and share recipes, exercise tips, and things that I find interesting with friends, family members, other bloggers, and blog readers.

Creating new workouts is something fun for me, and experimenting in the kitchen is a daily occurrence in my life.  This blog is updated daily with my latest kitchen creation, sweaty workout, or quick and simple meal.

In addition to sharing recipes and workouts, this blog follows my crazy life with my fiancé Brian and the rest of my family.   Recently, there have been lots of wedding updates, considering our wedding is only a month away!

What about that name? Why Treble in the Kitchen?
I grew up performing in theater and singing in choir, and music is one of my passions.  I even majored in vocal music in college, and performed in every talent show while working as the Fitness Director on board a cruise ship.

Growing up, I also spent a significant amount of time in the kitchen helping my parents and eventually creating my own meals.  My grandma made me an apron with little black treble clefs all over it and the words “Treble in the Kitchen,” and I was in love with it!  I still am.  The name seemed perfect when I was brainstorming the title of my blog.

What are three of your most favorite posts?

  • Women Can’t Bulk Up
  • I’m Not a Runner
  • All of my workouts posts!  I love creating new workouts to share on the blog.

What keeps you ready and raring to post? Why do you blog?
Blogging is fun for me.   I love getting completely lost in my thoughts as I sit to write or work on projects for the blog. I love that I get to “meet” new people through blogging every single day, and I love that I learn new things from my blogging friends all the time.

I am so thankful for the opportunities that blogging has given me, and I can’t wait to see what else is in store.

What can people expect when they hop onto your blog?
If you pop over within the next couple of weeks, there will probably be something wedding related whether it be a shower update, details of a craft project, or me just blabbing about how I can’ t believe that the wedding is so soon!

Normally, you will find a post outlining something that I have eaten, a quick recipe that I whipped together,  a workout that I want to share, or something random that I found interesting and wanted to share!

You love to “healthify” not so healthy foods. What are some of your favorite non-healthy foods and…Do you have a favorite tweaked version?
My favorite “non-healthy” food would definitely 100% be ice cream.  Sometimes frozen yogurt can be a bit healthier than full fat real ice cream, but when I add in all my favorite toppings any health factor is pretty much lost.

I have tried banana soft serve and absolutely LOVE it, but if I truly have an ice cream craving the real stuff is what I will go for.

Have you always loved cooking in the kitchen or is this a newer development?
I have always loved being in the kitchen.  My family is a cookie family, and we all absolutely adore baking and baked goods.

My earliest and fondest memories of being in the kitchen are with my younger brother and sister helping my mom or dad bake some chocolate chip cookies.  We would measure the ingredients precisely and then get to lick the beaters.  Yum!

If you could have five people over for dinner (living or dead) who would they be? Why? What would you serve?
This is such a tough question!  If I could have 5 people over for dinner I would invite Giada De Laurentiis-I have always wanted to meet her!, Racheal Ray-hers was the first cooking show I ever watched, Kristin Chenoweth-I saw her live on Broadway and she is one of my musical idols , Beyonce-she is such a strong woman and I have always loved her music, and Oprah-she is fascinating, strong, has had such an interesting life, and again…I have always wanted to meet her!

I am not even sure what I would serve, but it would have to be something REALLY good since two of the guests are Food Network allstars!

Any tips for anyone just getting started on their getting fit journey?
When it comes to getting fit and healthy, you have to do what YOU like to do.  If you enjoy the food you are eating and the daily exercise that you are completing then you will stick with it and make it part of your lifestyle.

Life is too short to waste it on things that you don’t truly enjoy.  Find what you like and make being healthy fun.  Also, remember that slow progress is still progress and changes don’t happen overnight.

Is there anything else that you would like little Indiana readers to know about you or your blog?
Thank you so much for reaching out to me, Jessica!  Indiana is a great little state and it always excites me to meet new people from the area that are doing amazing things.  Keep it up Jessica.
