We came out of Garden Gate Flowers and Gifts in North Salem, Indiana with not one but two pieces of furniture. Oh my goodness. I couldn’t even help it. When we saw the shop and stopped, we had no intention of going in for a piece (or two) of furniture.
I mean, we knew we were getting into something good. The exterior of Garden Gate Flowers and Gifts is absolutely adorable. They have painted it in shades of pink and green. I love it so much–I was so excited to get inside. I just knew it would be wonderful. Yes, yes it was.

That should tell you right now how amazing everything found inside of this Hendricks County gifts, flowers, and more shop really is.
Don’t let the name fool you–there’s a lot of variety here. It’s far more than you expect to find inside of your typical gift shop. But then again–when traveling in small towns, even one as small as North Salem, Indiana, nothing is ever “typical.” Indiana antiques, gorgeous pieces of furniture, cookbooks, quilting fabric, and loads more where that came from.
I was so surprised to see quilting fabric. I don’t quilt, but I do think it’s neat. I like that they have them intermixed a bit with other vintage items. It makes it easy for locals to find the supplies they need–and support a locally-owned shop at the same time.
Yes, they do have great antique items here. They do have a selection of resale items too as well as clothing. They like to say that they are an upscale resale shop. They won’t take just anything. It has to fit the feel of the shop, look good, and be in great shape. You can tell.

This is a full-service florist shop too. So, you can call ahead to place your custom floral order and they can have it ready to pick up. If you don’t know exactly what you would like, they can easily guide you to the perfect arrangement.
There’s nothing I didn’t like about this shop. It looks great, has a nice, pleasant atmosphere that makes you feel like you can browse, and definitely has improved two rooms in our home. I picked up a snazzy vintage table with red legs and a white top that will look fabulous as a kitchen island.
It adds a little something to our huge kitchen. We also found a conversation table. It has a shelf on the inside that will hold the phone books. It now has a new home in our entryway. It’s adorable.
