Arcadia Wine and Spirits in Arcadia, Indiana is amazing. I know, it’s not very often I feature this kind of shop. Other shopkeepers asked us to stick around and wait for the liquor store to open because the renovations are so wonderful.

Oh, yes, I said renovations. If you’ve ever been to a small town liquor store, or even a neighborhood one, you know they tend to all look the same: stacks of boxed chain beers on the floor, shelves with dust-covered wine bottles, fluorescent lighting, and drop ceilings.

Inside Arcadia Wine and Spirits

That is not what you will find inside. The renovated building is simply stunning. I didn’t think that I would ever say that about a liquor store, especially one in a small town.

Of course, it took a lot of work to get the building to match the owner’s vision. But he has succeeded in every way. Inside this small town shop you’ll enjoy tin ceilings, great light fixtures, gorgeous wood flooring, exposed brick, and the original ice cooler that is still used today.

Arcadia Wine and Spirits specializes in things that actually taste good and steers away from things that are only worthy for their label. He will never be lured in by a fancy label if it offers a tasteless beverage inside. Plus, they carry products from Indiana wineries around the state.

Keep tabs on his latest special events, like tastings, as well as new products coming in to the store, if you follow the Arcadia Wine and Spirits Facebook Page.

Edited to Add: Since the time of this writing, this business has closed. I took the following from the Arcadia Wine and Spirits Facebook Page:

It all began with an idea, written on a post it note. Restore a historic Main Street space back to its original luster, to offer local Indiana products, and to put money back into our local community and economy. As I write this, I am very humbled to see the impact everyone had, helping us achieve these goals. We should all stand proud of what we all accomplished in such a short time. It really goes to show what type of people we have in our community. I am extremely grateful that I have had the opportunity to be part of such an outstanding group of people. I remember a quote a dear friend of mine said, “All good things, must come to and end.” Some people will say this is the end, I would like to think this is just the beginning! Our official last day will be Saturday December 14, 2013 from 12-9pm. Thank You, Brandon S. Anderson
