Indiana Blogs: Mums Chasing Lilies

Why did you start Mums Chasing Lilies?
Mums Chasing Lilies is a compilation of the things that I love and want to share. I have always had a passion for art, design and shopping. Pair those things with an empty pocketbook {that comes with being a stay at home mom} and I was not a happy camper.

In order to continue enjoying my favorite things I slowly began learning how to shop frugally, craft, create and complete DIY projects. Now I could not be happier living life on the cheap and sharing all that I have learned with others.

What about that name? Why Mums Chasing Lilies?
I wanted to keep my blog in-line with my business Lilyput Design and I feel like I am always chasing my kids around. Married the two together with a little creative literation and came up with Mums Chasing Lilies. {{{because I am a mom always chasing her littles}}}

What are three of your most favorite posts?

What keeps you ready and raring to post? Why do you blog?
I always find the humor in EVERY situation and this can make for some great stories. My perspective of life is a little skewed and makes for great reading. Might as well share it!

What can people expect when they hop onto your blog?
A great Deal, Good Story, & Something Yummy.

You dabble in origami! Is this something new or have you always had this hobby?
It is something I learned after seeing a beautiful modular lamp. Origami was the closest I could come to making the lamp myself. I plan to post about my lamp making at some point in the bear future.

There are some beautiful pieces I have made hanging in select homes around Indy.

You also love to meal plan! What’s your system?
I plan meals two weeks out and only go to the store twice a month. This helps us stick to a budget and think about what we are eating each and every day. Right now I am using the Fresh20 for meal ideas and Ziplist to plan my trip to the grocery store.

There’s gluten free and paleo recipes on your blog. Has that been a difficult lifestyle change? What is one surprising benefit?
We first made the change for our son who has sensory processing issues and it has now become the norm for our entire family. It has actually been fun trying new foods and learning to make the foods we love gluten-free. One surprising benefit is the difference it has made, for the better, in our son’s behavior and ability to deal with stimulating situations.

Is there anything else that you would like little Indiana readers to know about you or your blog?
My blog is fairly new, but growing quick, and I look forward to sharing so much more with readers. In the near future I have plan to bring a coupon database for organic and eco-friendly products to my site.

Frugal Yet Fun

Does her site make you want to break out paper and tackle an origami swan again or is that just me? Thanks to Mums Chasing Lilies for her time today!
