If I remember correctly, breakfast was served all day, but as we were visiting during typical breakfast hours, that’s what we were after anyway!

They’ve got a nice menu at Round the Corner Cafe. This Indiana diner has all those yummy breakfast items you expect: biscuits, hashbrowns, home fries, and omelets.

They’ve also got a menu feature you might not expect: this small town diner serves gluten-free food and dessert! Also: they don’t use peanut oil in their fryer so you don’t have to worry about allergies to that, either.

If you’ve got kids along, this is the perfect place! They really do a nice job handling children here.

While we were waiting he could have browsed the numerous books and coloring books with a big bucket of crayons on the ample bookshelf in the main dining area if we had noticed it in time.

But what we really thought was a very thoughtful touch was something so simple but that we’ve never seen any other restaurant, big Indiana city or small town, do! They handed our youngest colorful animal-themed silverware that was just his size.

Isn’t that nice? It’s less mess for them to clean up later due to tiny hands and too big silverware–and it made him feel so special!

On to the food! There’s such a nice selection that it took us a little while to decide. We sipped on our coffee and browsed the menu.

Our youngest ordered the Mickey pancakes. Mmm! Those were so cute and generously sized. The oldest opted for biscuits and gravy. He was very happy with them! Those biscuits had that gravy just piled on there. Definitely a stick to your ribs meal!

I went with a Mom’s Best Breakfast option: two eggs (over medium), bacon, and toast. Served with home fries, it was oh so good.

My husband, Jeremy, eagerly dug into his Chuck Wagon breakfast: Three eggs, onion, potatoes, tomatoes, cheese, and your choice of bacon or sausage. He chose the sausage.

Round the Corner Cafe in downtown Winchester is exactly what you would expect from a small town: excellent food (seriously great potatoes–just make sure to request the onion!), friendly servers, and all of that cross-table chatter that gives it that comfortable atmosphere. Enjoy!

Just remember the shelf of books and things to do if you have kids with you. They’ll really appreciate that one!
